Parking ticket

Not sure that’s true about ticket being issued to the vehicle and the driver having no responsibility. I did school deliveries a few years ago and it was a regular occurrence. Firm never paid a thing, their take was you should never park illegally even though some places it was inevitable. We had a fund that we all chipped into that covered it.

Should never park illegally + delivery requires vehicle to be parked illegally + firm won’t pay parking ticket = delivery doesn’t get done.

+1…thats it in a nutshell.
its ok to be hands on and get the job done.but if that was going to be the firms stance, then it would be done the firms way and would just stay on the truck.

Parking is not Loading/unloading. If you park (i.e. “wait” where waiting is prohibited) then yes, you are responsible. If you choose to load/unload where loading is prohibited then yes, you are responsible. If, however you load/unload where loading is permitted (even though there are waiting restrictions - e.g. double yellow lines) then it’s down to your employer to deal with any tickets. If they won’t do this then the goods don’t get delivered. If there’s no way to do the delivery without contravening loading restrictions then the delivery doesn’t get done.

You’re not one of those drivers who pay for parking out of their Night Out money, by any chance…?

Taken from the Highway Code :-

Loading and unloading is permitted on single and double yellow lines, provided you do not cause an obstruction and there is no loading ban (i.e. pips on the pavements). Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines apply to the carriageway, pavement and verge. Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time.

No, I’m not one of those who pay my own night out money. Just like to do the best I can.
