Parking ticket

Had a delivery for a school see ticket guy lurking about. I tell him is it ok if I park on entrance to the gate just so I can find someone to open the gate. ‘Sure No Problem’
I run less then 10 meters from the truck and he is taking a photo of the truck with his ■■■■■■■ ticket thing. :unamused: :unamused:

No doubt the company will refuse to pay it as well. Kinda hope they do refuse to pay for it so I can be a right prick about what jobs I take.
I know he is doing an important job as school mums park anywhere but surely a delivery to the actual school should be an exception… Ah well.

What did he say when you confronted him about it?

Nothing because he didnt do anything or say anything.

Not too sure on the exact things he said as he had a very strong accent. Tried to argue with him (politely) but he didn’t seem interested having a conversation. He did tell me in the end not to worry about it as he changed his mind but I suspect he was just saying that to get me to move on.
I’m not that annoyed tbh just another incentive for me to get out of the class 2 multi drop crap.

Thats a reason ive never done multi drop could not do with job worth traffic wardens or some members of the public that think there special.

Also since I’m moaning I’ll like to add I had a delivery for a BP forecourt and a Hoyer truck was doing a fuel delivery so he conned off a area (A Stupidly big area I might add on the off chance a car driver stopped him from leaving by parking to far forward due to his tail swing). Anyway I needed a cone moved so I could I reverse next to the loading door. (Was not going to be in his way at all even if he went before me)
Walked over to him being friendly and asked him if it was alright if I moved one cone so I could reverse to the back of the store. “No, I will be done shortly” I explained to him I just have a delivery to the store “No I will be done shortly”. So I said that’s fine.
Moved the cone reversed to the back of the store.

No idea why he had to be a prick about it. I always try and accommodate other truck drivers if it doesn’t slow me down. Once he saw that I was unloading (still not in his way at all) pretty sure he wrote my number plate down and done and moved the cones so I couldn’t get out. I was done before him so moved the cones to one side and left.

That ■■■■■■ me off more then the ticket because he was a lorry driver.

I remember limping for Tescos years ago, was delivering to a London shop (pavement delivery as it was a little metro store).
I was on the back pressing tail lift buttons and a passing traffic warden looked up at me and smiled, gave me the thumbs up, which I thought was strange.
Upon returning to the cab I found a ticket on the windscreen! I wasn’t parked anywhere dodgy, it was right outside the shop, there was no special unloading area or anything, and it got me wondering who gave this shop permission to open if there’s nowhere for trucks to unload!
It seems to be the same old thing…we don’t want trucks but we can’t live without them.

Did a Saturday run for P&H about 10 years ago inside the M25, only 4 drops, 3 parking tickets, they were all waiting for me, all Tesco Expresses, 2 I had to park in bus stops, the 3rd had no posted restrictions and the other with a delivery bay encountered a nutter that tried to push one of the cages down a hill.

The rate the haulier receives will have had the cost of parking tickets factored into it. At the end of the day, the customer will pay it at the till.

That’s the only thing that bugs me. I know he took a picture of the truck and the sign but he didn’t give me a ticket. Not 100% sure if they have to still issue a ticket.

Did he put a ticket on your truck or not?

You say he was taking a photo but no mention of a ticket being issued.

Don’t they take photos and then another 5 or 10 mins later before issuing a ticket for evidence, I’m pretty sure they do nowadays. I know they have to observe you parked somewhere for a set amount of time before they can give you a ticket.

No ticket then it doesn’t sound like a problem. It sounds like he was doing his job fairly and you have jumped to conclusions and started having an argument politely with him for absolutely no reason other than you have decided he is a jumped up traffic warden.

You spoke to him explained the situation and he said fine, so because he then takes a picture of your truck you have the jumped on the defensive, probably the reason he couldn’t be bothered to speak to you when you started a polite argument over nothing by the sounds of it.

Things are not always what they seem.

Always get it in writing.

So you park on the yellow keep clear , outside of the school, you deserve a ticket.

When I did agency for Halfords they sent me to a little store in Richmond upon Thames. The store was on a little dead-end street with disabled parking on one side and double yellows on the side by the shop. There was a no right turn into the street so you were supposed to go right round their horrible one-way system; I used to turn right anyway, drive into the “buses only” area and reverse down to the shop.

The trick was to get there just before 8:30 when the manager arrived, I would have his cages off already so all he had to do was sign, help push them in and give me the empties - five minutes tops. The first time I did it there was no sign of a Traffic Warden; the second time he was there just before the manager turned up. We had a chat and he allowed me ten minutes which was plenty. He saw me a couple of time and just gave me a wave, but then he had a day off… “You can’t park there…” His jobsworth mate had turned up while we were pushing cages in.

Halfords paid the tickets so I didn’t really care, but it seemed so petty.

Ha maybe.
Next time I’ll just refuse to go there.
It’s the only place to park literally as the gate is operated with a fob or via reception no intercom system. All the places I could of parked were filled with cars.
Schools aren’t truck friendly. :grimacing:
I’ve also been told by teachers to park on keep clear sign loads of times to tip as it’s the only place.

Cone wars. Should’ve punted his cone over the hedge. Give him something to really photograph.

The traffic warden gestapo don’t need to issue a ticket, if you are deemed as parking illegally all they need is the photo it’s digitally date, time and gps stamped.
