There is not a lot of places to park in Whitehaven, try around the Harbour, you would be better off in Carlisle.
Unless you want to glow in the dark for a long time afterwards dont spend too long there
Drive into Whitehaven then take a left just passed tescos and follow rd round nice n quiet there plus short walk to tesco if you need a resupply, I usually park on harbour just a wee bit further round but thats only coz Id be landing a scallop boat at sometime
Lillyhall on the A595 .
Theres ind estates , car dealerships etc… stobarts had a depot there too.
Drop the trailer and bounce down to Workington for a chippy or kebab .
Plenty of places in Workington heading north to Maryport.
Best is layby near Tesco.
Heading north IIRC go over the bridge (replacement of the one that got washed away) then under a bridge, come to small roundabout, hard right back on yourself & over the top of the road you just came up.
You’ll see Tesco then, follow the road round a sharp right, (or s/o at mini rab?) laybe on the right.
Short walk into town.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like this when its dark and -4*C

Best is layby near Tesco. (Good call, this 24/7 Tesco is shut on a Saturday night btw)
Heading north IIRC go over the bridge (replacement of the one that got washed away) then under a bridge (which doesn’t exist anymore, well not if you don’t count the 6 pairs of beams for the new permanent bridge that were put in last weekend), come to small (-ish but fair sized) roundabout, hard right back on yourself & over the top of the road you just came up. (Don’t think he’ll be driving Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang!)
You’ll see Tesco then, (providing he’s successfully done his 150 metre Evel Kenievel jump) follow the road round a sharp right, (If he does a sharp right there, he’ll end up in the centre circle of Borough Park!) (or s/o at mini rab?) laybe on the right.
Short walk into town.Unfortunately it doesn’t look like this when its dark and -4*C
(Unfortunately it hasn’t looked like this for the last two and a bit years!)
The link’s right though.
Sorry if I come across as a bit of a ■■■■ taking ■■■■■■■■ but that’s just me. No hard feelings, eh?
Its about 3 years since I was last there pulling out of Iggesunds.
My tip to you is don’t be going anywhere near “Somewhere nice & quiet!!” or you wont have a drop of diesel left in the morning out in West ■■■■■■■ !!!
It’s renowned for it and has been for years!
I can name two Haulage Companies that had inserts fitted into their fuel tanks to stop robbers putting pipes in & draining fuel out - And That Was In Their Own Yards!!
If your running in from the Carlisle direction & you are empty it’s only a good hour & you are there!
Penrith truckstop is probably the nearest secure place.
ta all,i think ill take your advice and stop at carlisle and run in the morning at first, its going to be a regular run so i can also have a look round the places youve suggested as well when im being loaded.ta

Brilliant, just brilliant. Especially the 150 meter jump
All I can’t work out is where he is starting from on this jaunt? I take it by going under the bridge ect he’s coming from the Police station road. In which case, Sharp left well before all of this and your sorted!
I was born in Whitehaven, I must say that West ■■■■■■■ is a very depressing place, it makes Carlisle looks OK! The best place to park up would be Keswick near the bus station, you could have a few pints of Jennings Real Ale on your stay.

Keswick hadn’t had a bus station for many a year!

I know, coaches still park where the old bus station was, near Caterite.
