I parked there for 30min breakOn a SLIP ROAD? What the [zb] did you think the outcome would be?
What possessed you to think that was a good idea?
The way parking is give it a few years and this will be legal and above board. This will be some transport minister answer to hgv parking problems being allowed to park on slip road hard shoulders.
What about the guys who park on slips out virtually every msa just cause they can’t reverse in to the last few available bays
I’ve mentioned before on here about the difficulties of finding somewhere to park forra 45 mins. break when on night trunk.
All services and lay bys rammed full except maybe for an odd space which you can’t get into anyway.
Luckily I don’t do nights anymore but even so some of the services are full at dinnertime.

,always best to stop on the side that traffic is slowing rather than the entry slip road where traffic is accelerating
Not really the best way is it…
Truck or car slowing from 55 or 70
Truck or car accelerating from 20 or 30 I know which speed I’d rather be hit by
Illegal stoppimg on the hard shoulder is subject to a fixed penalty of £100. No points. I call BS.

I see this all the time on the southbound slip at Wetherby services. It’s often on a Sunday afternoon when the services are empty. I can’t understand why they don’t just park up in the services for a 45?
So is it bull for the 3 points.
Sorry it is 50 for stopping on the HS and 100 for driving on the HS. No mention of points for the £50 one. In face it even states NON ENDORSABLE. Was £30 now £50. Only £30 more than some MSA’S

Depends on your view,a car or truck slowing down is paying more attention that one speeding up looking to their right for a gap,and I didn’t mean right at the beginning of the slip road I meant near the roundabout end so if the are still doing 55/70 with less than 100 yards to the roundabout they will be worrying about stopping before the roundabout not if your parked on the hard shoulder.
And in other news kentonline.co.uk/gravesend/n … ice-59674/
Stopped on hard shoulder for various reasons , never had a fine / points ,just a ticking off andvtold to move on

Parked as in parked for an extended period of time?
If so your screwed unless you can prove you had good reason to or broke down ect, they won’t accept that you parked there because you ran out of hrs ect.
I’ve done it when stuck in traffic jams and running out of drive time for a 45. I’ll pull off and park on a sliproad hard shoulder where emergency services could still get past if need be. No sympathy for the ones who block the hard shoulder on the gridlocked main carriageway.
A fine i can understand but ffs points for parking ■■? come on , go to court objecting about the points parking is parking at the end of the day some common sense needs applying here

You can get points for parking on double yellows so I’d imagine parking on the hard shoulder is seen as a similar offence.

Please cite a reputable source of that RDC BS Please
DYL’s are decriminalised and any fines for parking on them will NOT get you points.

Ziz zag lines yes not double yellows you tool lol
Everyone stops for a ■■■■ on the hardshoulder from time to time and whenever there is a major hold up, guarantee you will see drivers taking break too.
Always wondered if those clowns who fly up the hard shoulder with the hazard warning lights on ever get prosecuted by the motorway cameras. Sinceily hope they do!

Especially the clowns I saw the other week (all truck drivers) who flew up the hard shoulder to get to the next junction, which incidentally had a queue on the sliproad so they ended up blocking the hard shoulder & a traffic cop trying to get past for a good 5 minutes Thankfully it wasn’t an ambulance with a dying patient on board, I sincerely hope the copper took their number plates.

Talking of common sense, parking on the hard shoulder ain’t exactly clever is it. You break the law, you get nicked. End of.
