Why do you think you deserve a reduction?
If you parked illegally on a slip road, why not just accept your punishment?
Your choice, your fault, your punishment…
(Assuming there are no mitigating circumstances!)
Parked as in parked for an extended period of time?
If so your screwed unless you can prove you had good reason to or broke down ect, they won’t accept that you parked there because you ran out of hrs ect.
I’ve stopped on a slip road hard shoulder before to clean my mirrors after a heavy down pour which covered them in crap, but I stopped on safety grounds,if I do I come off at a junction and stop on the slip round then go over the roundabout and re join the motorway, always best to stop on the side that traffic is slowing rather than the entry slip road where traffic is accelerating

Had a conversation with someone yesterday who “needed” to stop in an emergency only pull in on the M42 because he was not going to make it off the motorway in time for his break. I got the impression he is one of those who thinks VOSA/DVSA will send you to jail for stopping on 4hr37min when really you get told not to make a habit of it and think about stopping after 4hrs.
I didn’t know this carried 3 points.
Tell them you were working undercover for DVSA, they seem to be able to park in places that would get a driver a ticket
Sorry, but you haven’t got a leg to stand on. It is illegal to stop on a hard shoulder except in an emergency.
Comes down to bad planning, and DVSA would take a far di met view of this that’s going 10 minutes over your time. Simply pull over as soon as you can safely and legally, and do a printout with the reasons written on the back as to why you went over. If it’s a one off no one will care, just don’t make a habit out of it.
As for getting a reduction, I doubt you will be able to. Just ■■■■ it up and put it down to experience, unless of course you already have 9 points, then you’re in a whole different ball park.

This is my first ticket since 1994 that’s why I’m so ■■■■■■■

Was it the police that gave you the ticket? If so, just pay up and take the points, otherwise you’ll just be opening yourself up to more costs etc when it goes to court.
Forget about it, and just make sure it doesnt happen again.

Bang on.
Shame they don’t apply the same laws to all the flip flops who park on the M25 under them bridges then…Clearly one law for them and one for the rest of us…

On a SLIP ROAD? What the ■■■■ did you think the outcome would be?
What possessed you to think that was a good idea?
No Excuse
why did you not tell them you had broken down, or were feeling ill?
Must try harder!
Always have an excuse!

Would that really wash?
Wouldn’t the plod/VDSA have a look at the Tacho and see that you were due a driving break that you are CONVENIENTLY taking while you’re feeling ill…
in what area was this you got the ticket , and time of day per chance ? just interested .
,
for the pedantics, i know that`s irrelevant to the crime and punishment , just interested what area ?
…and no, reduction not possible, you have a right to appeal as is explained on the ticket , which would no doubt lead to a court appearance for your appeal. Reckon you will have to ■■■■ it up buttercup.

I’d give you a £1000 fine, you lot that do this and hide under motorway bridges are a pain in the sphincter. Out of hours is no excuse, park up a bit earlier. Not being able to plan for delays is no excuse for retarded parking, and that goes for parking on blind bends near industrial estates aswell.
And breathe. Good evening.

I believe the op is a flip flop or at the very least a bloody liability.
Course it could also be one of our more esteemed members doing a spot of baiting.
Anyhoo £100 and 3 points is a let off, should bring back ■■■■■■■. Think of the children.

That was clever considering that there’s a VOSA checkpoint nearby.
