Overspeeding on tacho?

Hi guys, girls!

A message popped up today on me tacho screen saying “overspeeding pre warning” only been driving 6 months and never seen this before what dse it mean? Thanks in advance!!

It means you went faster than the speed limiter for a short period of time.

Time to hang up your keys and prepare your backside for shafting from “Duke” in prison.

Press ok on the tacho to cancel it pal,and slow down a bit

As the last but one poster said, it’s a warning that you were over 56mph for a short time. If you go above the limit for a long time the tacho will flash “Overspeeding”. However, if you were driving a Scania, the tacho could have been calibrated to regard 53mph as 56mph and therefore you weren’t speeding (I’ve driven a few Scania artics like this, with different companies in the south-east). Also, you’re not breaking the law by going at up to 60mph.

I over speed atleast 10 times on a good run from Gloucester to Sheffield :sunglasses:

How is it possible to go past the speed limiter tho? Mines set at 56mph so i dint think it was possible to go over that speed? Ive read somewhere if you stay at the limiter speed for 30+ seconds ull get the overspeed warning

Yep, specially with a load on, that’s why you see wagons touching the brakes to slow down a bit.
If you time it right, you get 59 seconds at 59/60 mph (without infringement) then you’ve got to slow it to below 55, then let them Doggies Roll (again) [emoji6]

Nothing to worry about as long as your below the limit for the road, I let mine go up to 100 km/h (62mph), since that was the original limited speed.

Who gives you an infringement for going 59/60 mph for over 59 seconds?

Not our place, had 60 for well over 3 minutes going down the steep side of the M62 when ours are limited to 53.

If you are on or below the legal speed limit, Who gives a (broke with a capital F) :open_mouth:

I meant without it flashing at you, I got an overspeed infringement a couple of months ago from 05:23:41 to 05:24:45 Maximum speed 105 km/h, if we go over the magic 60 they like to make us sign for it. [emoji57]

Some (but not all) trucks will go above the limit when going downhill, particularly (but not only) when loaded. Scanias will, MANs won’t - the retarder will kick in even if it’s switched off (the two makes I’m most familiar with).

Some companies have policies on over speeds which can lead to internal disciplinary action but its not illegal to over speed

It is illegal to go over the speed limit
