If you over speed to say 65 for 5 secs then bring it back under 60 by the time the over speed flashes up, does it record the 65 or just your speed at the trigger point of it flashing?
Pimpdaddy:
Annoys me too, Stoneridge warn you before the over speed so you can do something about it, VDO doesn’t so I let it go, flash blah blah blah then it stops & I don’t have to press anything until I want to change modes, no matter how many over speeds I do… Apparently with DHL it’s 3 strikes & you’re in the office for it, any truth in this?
I dont know about DHL, but a firm I used to work for would pull you up for 5 overspeeds in a week, but if you dont acknowledge the 1st over speed during any one day, but wait til the end of shift, it only records 1 overspeed regardless of how often it happened in that day. Dont know if that is right, but I used to run on that theory so once 1 was up then the foot was flat down
if need be
Five in a week, bloody hell, we get 5 in a day especially if doing scotch.

Does drinking whiskey make you over speed?
Rob K:
Does anyone else find that the overspeed warning is really [zb] annoying and distracting? Before all the haters jump in with comments such as “thick [zb]! Keep it under x mph and it won’t happen!” I personally don’t see the problem with letting the truck overrun to 58mph (for example) where the auto retarder will kick in and hold the speed, but even though you never exceed 60 you still get the stupid overspeed warning. When it starts flashing you can’t clear it until it’s flashed through about 4 or 5 cycles, so you’ve got to contend with that flashing in your face before you can do anything about it which is really annoying, especially at night. Then you have to take your eyes off the road for several seconds while you fumble about trying to find and press the OK button. If the powers that be insist on having it then it should only activate above 60 mph and only flash once and be cleared on the first press of the button.
i agree it is annoying but when it happens i just leave it you get used to it in the end

yeah I know what you’re saying, coz I was getting loads when I 1st started with them, but after a while you end up dragging your heels at 53, then the truck rarely overspeeds.

Only if you’re showing the Rozzers a clean pair off heels by golly
Tip of the day:…
only press the ok button at the end of the day that way the tacho will only record 1 overspeed no matter how many times you overspeed.

Is that true?? Or mmtm bs??
true.
Nice.
Cheers for that will bear it in mind.
Now just press ok and get on with it.
‘Full Respect’
That’s gotta be the winner.
Bet it was in an Irish Scania, pulling 65 tons of hanging beef down Shap !

Yeah that’s fine. Right up until you want to change modes or have a scroll through to check your driving time for the day, then you’ll find you have to “ok” it before you can proceed.
Don’t think vosa are that arsed about over speeds, just if you have them constantly which shows a dodgy limiter.
Wears your brakes out quicker if you’re on weight as well, forever braking it going downhill.

Drop a cog and engage 'tarder, non?
Never had a word said to me about overspeeds. I sometimes cancel them, I sometimes don’t. I don’t get upset about the flashing light. I have never crashed canceling the over speed. I don’t take my eyes of the road for several seconds doing so. Split second at most. I have never needed to write a post to moan about flashing over speed warnings.
If its that much of a hassle, don’t go over 55.
I’ve got to agree with Rob, totally stupid waste of time that serves no purpose what so ever. Doesn’t bother me much during daylight but it can annoying in the dark. The thing is flashing just above my eye level so I can’t avoid it.

They’re arsed about them if you dont start braking until you get to 70!
