Overnight parking blacklisted areas

Merthyr Tydfill. Left there one one morning minus my fuel filler cap and about 300 quids worth of diesel. Reported to the local plod if only to get an incident number to give to my boss so I would be covered. Outside the meat factory up the hill near the Asda - beware.

toddington services steer well clear seen too robbed there and 19 quid just to park

A1 Doncaster to ferrybridge, those laybys have cost us a few tanks of fuel, Canterbury on the A2 bypass theres a shell station , don’t park there, there is a ‘caravan site’ in the woods behind, had me curtains slashed whilst people filled up with petrol 20 yards away.

No where is safe to park anymore if they want it they will take it,When you pull into services and they charge you anything from 15 pounds to 30 pounds to park and you see them posters truckers be where load theft hotspot what hope have you got, me i dont feel safe any where i park now its awfull, truckstops like lymm is useless heywood is about the best truckstop to park but there aint many places like heywood to park,It not getting any better and it wont sadly truck crime will get worse with the driver and his load the target.

Sadly no where is safe, if they want it they’ll get it simple as. Reminds me of a bloke lived down the road from me when I was a teenager that had a lotus Carlton, every now and again a car would pull up to his house in the dead of night and they would try steal it but could never get around the various alarms, immobilisers and posts he had, so one evening there was a knock on his door and when he opened it there was a bloke with a sawn off and a balaclava standing there and simply said keys please. Bye bye Carlton.

A5 AT LUTTERWORTH LAST LAYBY BEFORE ROUNDABOUT,PARKED UP AT1AM,WENT TO MOVE AT 1OAM FUEL CAPS REMOVED AND 600 LITRES OF DIESEL STOLEN.

" VALE TRUCKSTOP " on the A46 between EVESHAM and J9 on the M5

Full tank of DIESEL stolen, Also had my CURTAINS slashed and thats with both back-doors open all night,
I also found it very strange due to the size of the parking spaces available on site that there was a empty parking space next to my truck when I got back from the cafe having my luke warm food,
That’s when I notice the Damged to my UNIT and TRAILER by some other Trucker when he/she was trying to reverse between me and another truck to park up,
None of the truckers I asked sat in there cab’s parked up near my truck had seen or heard anything ?
When telling the guy in the Cafe on the counter which by the way had a serious bad attitude was not very helpful or Interested in what had happen to me or my truck, Just saying " owners park up at there own risk "
Also no SECURITY when the cafe is shut at night,
It Is no way like it was when the Husband and Wife team had it a few years ago,
Gone down a very steep hill now,

ITS THE WORST PLACE I’VE EVER PARKED IN A LONG TIME NOW, NEVER AGAIN, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! ! !

I’ve used the Vale Cafe on a regular basis over recent months and have NEVER had any problems at all. Seems to be a popular place as nearly always busy and decent grub.

Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience on this occasion.

Northampton Services, M1 J15a.

Parked on northside for a night. Paid £21 for the pleasure! Woke in the morning, no criminal damage but some little ■■■■ had opened up fifteen buckles on the O\S of my trailer and attempted to get in the N/S back door. It was a Cargobull trailer so they could have done it too, if they had been willing to wake me up.

Plod out, said just as I thought, there is very little they can do, there is no forensic evidence, NO CCTV! Load checked at the originating depot and nothing was missing. I put that down to it being a load of Ford Mondeo front bumpers to be honest, who would want them?

On a different note, if you are woken up to someone ■■■■■■■ about with your curtains, get a photo. Even if they are not intending to steal anything, opening the curtains is seen as “preparatory to committing an offense” and is a crime in itself.

A5/M1 J9 - M6 Diesel Services/Flamstead Truckstop

I often stop here on night network for a break and I can say that the service on nights is first rate. Parking is £12 but there is a night parking marshal on all night every night. Brews are available from his shipping container if you don’t have your own kettle and there is space for 70+ artics. Police are by regularly, there aren’t many places you can get a brew at three in the morning without paying through the nose for it.

The parking marshal will even give you a knock on the window if you are running late!

The only downside is that a lot of the foreigners trailer change here at night. That is reducing though as the owners are cracking down on it. 2.5 hrs free parking on nights.

The cafe is a bit shocking though. Quality is 5/10 service is scored in minus numbers.

John McC:
We had a truck parked up for the weekend at The Red Moss Truck stop on A74 just south of Glasgow this weekend. Our driver phoned me to say, it was run by a great couple, the food was good. There was CCTV on site.He could see the vehicle on screen when he was in the cafe, He woke up Sunday morning to find fuel cap screwdrivered off, and half a tank of diesel gone, What is the point of paying for safe parking, when this happens. If you pay to park, then the park owner should do more to make sure you are safe.

I stayed there without any problems, however it is in the middle of nowhere and it was peshing down at the time, tends to keep the thieves indoors. The guy who runs it has a couple of trucks on euro work and is an absolute gent !

a couple of years ago i was advised by a policeman one night in the layby at bowes that the laybys and stainmore cafe on the a66 were being targeted by the fuel thieves and if at all possible not too park in them overnight.

I’ve stopped on Lymm plenty of times and never had any issues but that’s probably due to me driving a tanker. I have stopped in the layby round the corner on the a50 and had my tank milked though. Gota agree no where is safe.
Don’t ever stop in a layby on the a14 near Corby! I stopped on boxing day night when it was ■■■■■■ down and they emptied the tank. merry Christmas.
Im on Burtonwood services tonight, which ain’t bad for 16quid.

Haven’t read the whole thread so not sure if posted before but…J14 M25 Spout Lane. Avoid like the plague. If the aircraft noise isn’t bad enough (right on flight path), then the Pikies will get ya! Parked there last night. LV reg’d lorry in front. Curtains closed, no sign of life. Went to sleep, woke up at 0100 hrs this mo, LV’s curtains slashed to fukkery! Still asleep! Personally, I didn’t hear a thing! Baskets!
