It’s like this mate, if you want to live a work/sleep endurance test type job parking in a [zb] MSA with ■■■■ poor facilities, with your stop watch set, to 9 or 11, fill yer boots, but please don’t try and advocate legislation for me to have to do the same.Last night while parked on an ind est at Tiverton, and sat in Wetherspoons eating a Chicken feast meal with 2 pints of John Smiths, and watching the rugby, not once did I think …‘‘Ooh,.I wish I’d parked on the services and paid the thick end of 25 quid to be ripped off, and gone and eaten a [zb] Burger King, back to the cab via ■■■■■■■■ rd, to be kept awake by noisy bastds doing c/overs, and away again for another joyous day’’ nah, not once believe it or not.
As for toilets, I can’t speak for you, but even I aint at the time of life where I’ve lost control of my bowels, so I’m ok on that score thanks.
As for lay bys, I can see your point, but from a different perspective, only ban them in order to set the ball rolling for proper truck park sites.

So not for squeezing in 1 and a half weeks work, for 1 weeks pay? 
In a job where driver limit are often more targets, I as a day man would often probably rather not be allowed to reduce, as I don’t think 9 off is enough by the time you’ve got home and done stuff. But I can see why a tramper would want the option and flexibility, it just then comes with the issue of discussing with your planner or TM, why you’re not pulling your 3rd reduced rest in a row.

Back when I was down the road, I liked to keep one reduce left over in case I got screwed on the Friday. Happened a good few times, traffic, bad planning, delays, whatever it was. That reduced rest allowed me to park up at say 3pm, have 9 off then get cracking back to the yard, dump the truck and then actually wake properly on Saturday morning in my own bed.

Nah, not for me, I’ve known a lot of gobby Geordie birds over the years, where as Holly is a bit of class.
What, with me being the cool classy refined type myself and all that.
Just to add regarding 9 off, a reduced rest for a tramper who can be in bed in 2 minutes, is a lot more beneficial than it is to a day man who has to drive 25 mins home and then back to work again the following day.
An easy 8 hours straight sleep is no problem for a tramper on a reduced rest (assuming he/she is eating in the cab).

Stop it this is getting embarrassing and desperate, if the restraining order wasn’t enough, remember when you called in?
Better facilities and much more of it means its pretty easy to find somewhere to stop with showers/food ect over here. An insulated locker next to the batteries that houses a top loading fridge and 25litre water tank with in built electric pump though serves as an emergency splash if needed.
Had to wait for 4 hours or so the other night before my final tip and tried a layby for some kip. Was a nightmare even though it was 3 in the morning and relatively quiet. Decided to get nearer my tip and parked up on a local industrial estate. Way better imo. Although it’s getting harder to find them without camera’s and double yellows all over the place. Cash cows or ‘environmental’ concerns?
