I stopped 2 minuets away from an asda depot in Bristol for a 45 min break before while on agency working for them because I knew that by the time I got through the gate I would have been over my drive time , they were fine with it when I told them and would rather I did that than break the law , did expect a different response from them but in the end of the day it’s my licence .
You were an agency driver so they do not give a toss if you were employed on the books they would have ■■■■■■ you off for some made up reason refusing to do work or something I have had it happen to me.
Well it’s all about the FPN now isn’t it, if they can take £’s off you there and then for an minor infringement then it’s a tick in the box back at base, pays diesel in the Galaxy for the day, all about the £, pump the little guy.
To be honest, I wouldn’t mind the odd small fine here and there as long as that’s the end of it and there’s no arsey letters + tea and biscuits with that Beverly Bell sort.
Well said Weeto, if you poke the bear, they don’t like it up 'em and i’d say they know how to hold a grudge too.

Not quite surf dude. They’d like you to think so because your acceptance of a FPN is a “crime” solved and looks good on their figures. The simple fact is that anyone can refuse a FPN and elect to have their day in court.
I have done this twice in the last 20 years and received a caution through the post as I’m sure the cases would have been laughed out of court.
I pulled over on Monday with my tacho showing exactly 4.30 and put it on break. Had a snooze, made a brew, scratched my arse, read the paper etc etc and then my alarm for 45 minutes went off. When I restarted the engine, the dashboard & tacho flashed at me and said I had exceed my driving hours
I stopped on 4.30, I thought that’s what you were allowed to go up to? As I drove away, the tacho still said 4.30 for the 1st minute until it reset itself to 1.
Is this normal? I don’t think I’ve never stopped exactly on 4.30 before, over & under of course, but never bang on!

Aye, that’s normal. As your tacho ticks over to 4.30 it flashes up as “driving time exceeded” or something like that.
Twice I’ve stopped on 4:29 and set the tacho to rest and have been stationary for 30 seconds plus and still the tacho has flashed up “driving time exceeded” as it got to 4:30.
