 :open_mouth: :open_mouth: when did Davie Malcolm go ■■

Couple weeks ago…

Is his son still going ?

Not sure mate. I don’t know a lot about it to be honest. His trucks & trailers are for sale at Moody’s. And I had 2 of his ex drivers ring me up looking for jobs last week.

Shame. I do not know Davie but have never heard a bad word said about the man.

routier:
Is this a light on the seat or hands free kit?

It is the retarder. It is indeed a hands free kit!

nice kit mr www.
but I wouldn’t want to work for you
I don’t want to be at work for weeks on end
always been glory boys who will tho, but I aint one

I missed the post from whites on here advertising for drivers or glory boys. In ur words . I bet pete ■■■■■■ himself laughing at your cv above

Has RW offered you a job then? How long have you been in your current job?

The Key to any successful business is its staff. They are the backbone of any business not just haulage. If you have the right employees who will work with you then you have every chance of making it.

Ray White Transport have obviously found good drivers who work hard and respect what they have been given, I’m quite sure they are well looked after as a result of that!

Its great to hear of their success and makes a change from hearing the depressing stories of hauliers going bust/ ripping people off/ starting up again

Theres far too many drivers out there who dont give 2 effs about the job / truck / trailer as long as they get their dosh at the end of the day.

So many green eyed posts on this topic its unreal.

An excellent post :sunglasses:
I asked some questions further back in the thread as to whether the business was something other than haulage and thought they may be buying and killing the products they haul to add margin and enable the super fleet the company run. It gives hope to all hauliers to know that it is still possible to run top kit and be profitable from good management.

Don’t wanna base a truck there then?!! In jest…

Are the business units on the far side from the A429 then, on the Tetbury side?

On the Airfield.

Sorry, yeah that’s what I mean - far side of the airfield or in by Rapid?

So as one companies demise means opportunities for others… who is doing his work then    or will tender ?

do you know why he went pop?

Moodys markup on any used Scania is pprox 20% . What do you get in terms of warranty etc from him?

He used to be an international haulier but got into a spot of bother with Vosa. Hes done well to get into Sales.

Theres a few who have done it, A&M Commercials, McGeown. Theres a good living to be made by it.

I know one guy who sold his R Series to Moody for 54k, he sold it for 67k, didnt do a tap to it, the vehicle was an ex show vehicle.

I went to see him and I liked him, I went to look at that Volvo 660 but it was not quite right for me, the bloke looks you in the eye and calls a spade a spade, his margin is up to him, whether you feel the price is right is up to you.

Yeh that’s what I understood.
I knew Davie was struggling but didn’t realise he’d gone pop. I believe he was getting seriously squeezed on rates.

I was out last night but home on Friday and Saturday night, can i be a glory boy :sunglasses:
