Tell me about it, I got out of a 460 merc into a r440 and the merc just couldn’t live with my scania on hills. And tbh the scania is nothing to write home about. Anyway, my mate on express freight got out of an fh500 with a ■■■■■■ cat into one of these new 450 mercs, to say he was disappointed was an understatement
The threads been going a little while but long may it remain.
It’s a nice changed to see a haulier who looks after their vehicles and obviously employ drivers who do the same.
I’d love to work for a company that puts that much pride into their fleet as I’m pretty sure you’d get the same respect.

Yes. Tipped Trafford Park at 8am with a load of fresh pasta bought in from Italy. Reloaded Yearsley Heywood 10am for Iceland Swindon Tip 4pm. Back to Yard & Pick up another load on Hanging meat, this time for Paris & Brittany and off he goes again…

I don’t know what you’ve been smoking but - we have a new merc with the 450 engine and whilst everyone likes driving it & it is a cracking truck, the 1 complaint without exception is its gutless. I would say the most common expression on our firm regarding the merc is - " it’s a great truck but wouldn’t pull granny off ■■■■ pot " !

. You commented on this post that was clearly about higher powered v8s. Now a few people have riddiculed your posts you have chose to give us more info about this duel you had with this v8 .500merc in germany 
Funny how some are banging on about how it’s impossible that a 450 Merc would outpull a 500 Scanny and some even claiming it to ‘never happen’ etc. Like I said a few pages back, my 124m 420 (and the artic that was behind me) outpulled one up near Chilton on the A34n/b and no body give a ■■■■ (nor did I), didn’t even get a bite. Mention a Merc and all hell breaks loose! And for information purposes, the straddler was M99.

To be fair you didn’t but seeing as tho the thread is about a scania V8 730 is would be fair to assume that’s what you meant. To clarify neither did you say it was a V8 500 you were talking about.
