Ok john fair enough but look at it from mine and others point of view looking for training come across your great offer look you up on the web and it comes up you have been involved with 3 companys that have gone up the wall. Can you see What sort of impression that creates . You sound like a genuine guy and hopefully you can see my point. local I’ve seen Sterling & Qualitas come and go and known some people who’ve passed through with either. I contacted Sterling when I started out and chose another provider primarily because they were using bigger more realistic sized vehicles but also because I felt that what was being offered at the time seemed too good to be true.
I never regretted my decision and having found this site some years later I decided that I may have been wise, Sterling went and Qualitas came, I’ve worked with a couple of Qualitas trainees and to be fair they had no axe to grind. I’ll be honest and say that I was as cynical as the next man about the appearance of Flair but John does post useful information, will recommend other training providers who I know to have good reputation and does come up with these offers which cannot be seen as a loser.
If you are not putting any cash of your own into the pot and are getting a chance to get your licence for free what have you got to lose, I’m sure that John will admit it is a publicity promotion and if it distances himself from some of the dirt that has been thrown in the past that is no bad thing either.
I see Flair tootling around several times a week so there is obviously a stream of new trainees.

Anyone can fail in business, learn important lessons and go on to run other businesses successfully, with happy customers. There are several on TruckNet (not newly registered posters with only one or two posts to their name) who have posted positively about their training with John. It seems wholly wrong to keep on trawling up past mistakes.
Indeed. I personally hope Advantage can put this little bit of adverse publicity behind them, the little rascals. I’m sure that just like John there were some people who didn’t have a problem with them. All those halfwits who lost their money probably deserved it.

Cheers Dar, I’ve now read the other thread .
I was very wary and highly critical of John when he set up Flair, and if I remember I gave a bit of stick. However I have only heard good reports so far, despite this I will reserve judgement. The freebie he gives away is in no doubt publicity, nothing wrong with that as others do it drum it up via this board, and it helps there reputation and the trainees, which can only be good thing for the training industry. They also take the risk that if things go wrong, then their rep may suffer. The time I would be worried is if a training school uses this publicity to rake in too much business so they have to sub it out to other providers, therefore becoming a broker, and we all know what eventually happens to them and the trainees cash.
Well that’s it. All the entries have been sent to Ian for him to choose from. As soon as he lets me know I will contact the person directly as well as saying on here who was chosen .
