Once bought an astra 53reg cdti, didn’t even make it home from the dodgy dealer be for it broke down. Had a 406 1.8 x-reg many moons ago where the cam belt snapped & wrecked the engine, I’ll never own a French car or a vauxhall again, I now drive a Mazda 6, serviced twice, changed the clutch, trouble free motoring…Mazda 6 engines have problems with the oil pick up being too close to the sump pan, so they clog up meaning they don’t deliver oil around the engine = dead engine, so I suggest when you get a bit of time, you bang it on ramps and drop the oil pan off and clean the oil pick up and the actual pan itself, only costs a few quid for a new gasket and some oil and will save you having a dead engine.
That’s the only problem I know of with Mazda’s.
All vehicles have issues, ALL of them.
Intresting as my mates dads car has just suffered this I think, Oil light cam on a mile or so from home switched it off restarted it and light was out drove home fine but light is on now so waiting for local garage to take sump off

Extremely lucky, I’d go and get a couple of Toyota’s before it runs out.
I always run french cars with no probs apart from my 106 Diesel that was a shed! Moved onto a Xantia TD and now a Scenic Dci which I have not had to do much with mainly freeing the Siezed sliders of for MOT. Buy cheap and run them into ground. The missus runs a Clio 172 which touch wood has been o.k be its starting to need a few bits due to age
We have had an old Renault Espace 2.2DCI for the last 6 years, even took her to Spain and back once and she barely missed a beat, although turbo went a week after we got back que new turbo and engine rebuild.
Always had issues with the EGR valve and limp mode kicking in but got it blanked off and no issues ever since touch wood.
Always something needs doing to her but shes part of the family now. New exhaust and radiator next year.
I got a fiat doblo which has 105,000 on it and just keeps plodding on. Best bit is my other half is prone to forgetting to lock it and it’s always still there when we get back although maybe she’s trying to tell me something. She treats the car like a rubbish dump so it’s staying for a good while now.
most unreliable cars now tend to be german!!
It has taught me that, if you go on a trucking forum the topic will change significantly, before descending into a slanging match between 2 members over trivia & opinion. You know what they say about opinions. All cyclists welcome.
be very careful who you trust.
I have a Citreon C5,I think its a great car,and I am also a cyclist.
