One day national strike?

jackslad:
Strike action would be the last resort after negotiations broke down, but who negotiates, with who,its not like the railways with Bob Crowe in charge…time for a new union for HGV licence holders, and ask bob if he’s up for challenge.

thats exactly what i said some time back on another site,i dont particularly like bob crowe but he seems to get results for his members

Yes he does but its not as if boris johnson can ring up the agency and order 100 tube drivers for the day.

One day strike?

No, because I’m not a lazy, thick and useless socialist, thanks.

Right, so I guess you don’t use the NHS or take Holiday Pay or Sick Pay if you need it then?

Not saying i don’t, I’d just rather have much lower taxes and be able to make my own choice about how to fund these things. These three things epitomise the nanny state.

The NHS and the right to Holiday and Sick pay are the epitome of a Nanny State?

I’m afraid I strongly disagree with that. These are some of the fundamentals that the Unions and Working Class have been fighting for for Centuries. If it weren’t for these people striking and fighting for rights they didn’t have, we wouldn’t have the cushy life we currently enjoy.

Nanny State involvement in telling me how to live my life I oppose, but state involvement helping me live my life I’m happy with.

There was a programme on ITV1 last night about the workhouses. It was scary stuff and could’ve happened to any one of us workers back then, they were only abolished in 1948! I’d much rather live as we do now. Yes the Welfare State can be a drain but if Cameron et al had it their way we’d be back there in a flash with the rich lording it over us and telling us it’s our fault we’re poor.

Em! the rich are lording it over us and do blame us for being poor!!!

Armagedon:

Fair point.

The arguments on this topic just go to prove why a national one day/one week/one month strike would never work.
Ive never crossed an official picket line and never would but alot would, that is there choice, but what does bug me is the im all right jack` attitude.

Yeah, i reckon all the guys on good pay and with good working conditions won’t even bother striking.

  Typical "Lazy, thick and useless Tory" response.

it’s everyman for himself for me.I can’t stand the unions and socialism. If you’re not happy with your working conditions, then set up your own company, and then you can set your own rules and you can divide your annual profits equally amongst your workforce.Capitalism will always prevail against the socialist left wing moaners
OP mentions the term Professional drivers. This makes me cringe with embarrasment everytime. What is professional about driving a lorr ynowadays?.Some drivers need to get their head out of their arses and stop thinking they are so full of self importance and the big i am.Rant over.

Correct. +1

Tanker drivers tried it, did’nt work.

A strike will not solve anything. Two people put the kybosh on that as a bargaining tool.

1st. Maggie Thatcher took the fight to the unions and won.

2nd. Tony [zb]ing Blair with his relentless pursuit to give away our sovereignty.

If drivers went on strike they would be replaced by cheap foreign labour…for good.

That’s if a strike could be organised in the first place. Big Brother is watching social media and monitoring text messages, any indication of a revolt and the Army would be on the streets in minutes.

As mercenary as it sounds, the only way to make it is to look after number one :open_mouth:

Your rite, big brother and bullying tactics…free country bollox…more like cold war Russia everyday, you can think about it and thats as far as will go…

Sorry, just read the title and 3 words spring to mind:

Ha Ha Ha
