On her way back

Good girl! Portugal last week and Malaga/Calais return this week!
Two weeks off and now i dont want to go back to it  Going to try for a third week off but have a feeling she’ll be handing the truck back to me tomorrow… :grimacing:

Take it you’ve done the food shopping, laundry, ironing, swept/hoovered, cleaned, swapping bedding, washed the Windows, tidied up the yard/garden…

sound’s like you’ve got a good one there mate. but when she get’s in remember to let her chill out for a few hour’s before you try and show her how much you’ve missed her.

Yep, done it all and…bought her some flowers and a new pair of shoes (not that she actually needs any) :grimacing:

On the way to pick her up shortly and have a casual look around the truck, very casually though as she’ll be watching me.
Ill let her chill out for a bit …then ask if she’ll do next week as well…not too optimistic on that one though,

obviously you will be checking that she has filled up the tanks, cleaned the cab,and washed the truck including checking all fluid levels, and not left any old skiddies down the back of the bed with your appreciation level being in direct relation to the standard of the returned truck in question??
alternatively, just worry about it when your in the yard ready to leave next week assuming you can still walk… .

Shes very cleaning ocd as i am DD, she’s left it spotless. Tank is on fumes though so im back in the yard tomorrow to give the card a hammering at the pump and give it a wash and polish. Waiting until tomorrow to ask if she wants to do nxt week, no complaints from her and she seems happy enough but think i may be pushing it a little…

i think you might be correct there…

You need to coax her Andrew, tell her how much better the fuel consumption was, how well the truck looks and and that you are so proud of her out there on the highways and byways. And that as a mere man you can see how talented and carefree women are who drive trucks.

That should score some brownie points, she will want to impress you yet again will most likely beg you to let here go on another trip

Then the 911 can have another caning around the local roads

To be honest mate i am proud of her. Shes stripped and built up the tilt 3 times (she did have some help on the 2nd occasion) coped fine with the Portugal groupage , Malaga return she dropped and swopped trailers, dealt with two blown bulbs herself on the trailer and got my unit back without a scratch, all done absolutely spot on. She also got a fair bit further south than i would before giving the bottom of the tank a splash to get it home so yes, looks like better fuel economy too. I am praising her,i must be getting lazy, i really want next week off too…

You might get more than next week off if you’re not careful!

There is that to consider  Nice to know that shes got back into it again though and seemingly likes it to boot. Karla works from home as a landscape artist though and has got a few orders to complete. One week off every month or two would be nice, my regular run is a bit of a slog done week in week out…

We bought a Sprinter with a tilt body. Yes, a Sprinter van. Small thing, 4 meters long, somewhat nearer to the ground tha trailer. You would not believe the moaning when it needed stripping down about once a month, it was endless.

But I’m more interested in the shoe buying. Mr A wouldn’t either have ever think of doing so and secondly bless him, if he had done would not have got it right.

A sprinter and they moan?? I showed her how best to strip/build it back up a few years ago now and she obviously hadnt forgotten, shes only petite but doesnt mind getting stuck in. There was handball on the groupage and again, no complaints.
Re the shoes, i dont always get it right so always keep the receipt . Clothes though i leave to her entirely, im not so good on that one

Started out as a forkie loading gropage trailers and deep sea groupage containers. Nothing poncey like ramps to make life easy, used to be able deadlift 60kgs and keep going. Helped strip God knows how many tilts, so the moaning about the sprinter went right over my head.

Couldn’t do any of that now though, wear and tear has caught up!

Use it or lose it !
I wonder how some younger people who try to avoid all activity will fare in later life? No need to do anything excessive, just keep up a bit of physical and mental activity.
To work muscles without jars and shocks, cycling is good.

Cycling in a velodrome is good , cycling on a road goes against my principle of not negatively impacting other people. Roads are for getting from a-b, they aren’t a leisure centre.

Injured my back years ago and it’s not repairable. If I did my physio more often would make sense - doh!

Cycling on busy roads isnt a good option, agreed. Cycling in traffic breathing in (even cleaned up) exhausts isnt good either.
Get on a bike in the country, and Id say that is good. As I said, no need to go extreme, no need to bend double over the handlebars and pretend youre an athlete, just cruise along and watch the scenery move. Easier on the joints than jogging.
And in the country there`s no one to laugh at any “specialist clothing” I choose to wear.
