On a MORE positive note

…I am fed up with folk moaning all the time about this and that on the road, let`s have a positive slant for a change!

How many times, has keeping a decent distance from the vehicle in front of you saved your skin?
For me it is countless.
It is a shame that we take this for granted and the positive outcomes are not mentioned more often, especially for car drivers…The problem is, we want an instantly tangible gain to satisfy us, as when you purchase a material item, so then you will repeat it.
The clever bods need to turn this into an educational campaign for road safety!

I’ll give you a positive slant , I’ve been laid up with a broken leg since December 12 , and today I was told I can return to doing what I love , driving a truck :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

We all have a moan , some more than others , but I’ve seen life from a different perspective since my injury . I could have been a LOT worse off and saw some horrible things in hospital which make me thankful for what I have , and now can’t waiit to get back earning and get behind the wheel .

As someone on here once said …ONWARDS :exclamation:

My mate had a van business and couldnt run straight if someone paid him but one thing he told his drivers was to never try and make time up on the road but to make it up at drops by getting on with the job and not standing about drinking tea and having a chat.

Its difficult to save 5mins on the road but very easy to save 10mins when tipping.

I got some mp3s from my friend and I was listening to them when delivering to a railway place. It happened that I was listening to the end of that song, when the railwayman heard it and asked me to play it again for his mates…

They loved it (I like it too).

So I was doing various things in my job, but I haven’t been a DJ yet

It’s these funny little things that can keep you in a good mood for the rest of your day

Brilliant ! Made me Chuckle !

Good one orys!

It sounds like Lily Allen…but I guess it could be any session singer.

I agree. I also am sick of hearing comparatively well off people moaning all the time.
If you’ve got your health…you’ve got everything. I am lucky there. Only had 7hrs work this week…but enjoyed the time with the wife n kids.
Saw a bbc report on the Syrian refugees tuther day…those poor children, shot and maimed…we dont realise how lucky we are. Financially, would anyone swap with Spain. Italy…Portugal…Ireland…Greece…France.?

It’s FRIDAY! :sunglasses: TFI FRIDAY! I hate moaners  they should be lucky they’re BREATHING! :open_mouth: and getting paid for it! :unamused: Roll on Monday I’ve a 66 hrs off! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

know you’re situation mate. I’ve been off since 4th January with retnal tears in both eyes and detached retina of the right eye. Got another op on the 15th May and i may be off work untill July. I just want to be back on the road tramping doing what i love. I even have the traffic reports on when im listening to Talksport wishing i was stuck in a 5 mile tailback between junc18-19 on the M1 Northbound on a friday night instead of being stuck at home(i must be loseing the plot! haha  ) you dont realise how good this job is sometimes until you aint doing it for long period of time.

I’m not feeling positive!! :imp: Barclycard have failed to deliver my replacement card AGAIN, so now my European tour has had to be delayed by a week!
It would be bad enough if it was my fault, but to be delayed by some other *hole’s incompetence really makes me boil :imp:
But you know what makes it worse?
NOBODY GIVES A ■■■■!!!

Cheers guys!

Yeah it was a great feeling as it took me 3 attempts to get it! Iv waited so long for it too, so when he said the magic words “im happy to tell you, you have passed” I was elated!

It was a great feeling being offered a full time job on the spot as well!! They said they see how i go on Class 2 and then move me up to C+E after a couple of months! Its nice as i actually feel like im getting somwhere now, after working for 5-6 months on agency and prep’ing for the C+E test and being financially skint paying for it all with unsteady work! Its nice to feel like the hard work its starting pay off!

I passed mine in October last year. To this day (I did it for me, not because I needed it) it still hasn’t sunk in. I trawl the length and breadth of the UK in rigids, and have to pinch myself and remind myself that I can actually drive them.

I used an awesome training company for my C and C+E, and they admitted from the start that in the space of a week, they could only train me to pass the test, with probably about 50% extra skills. And they absolutely did that!

But it’s not really enough for the real world is it? If every reverse was into a box made out of paint, via a few plastic cones, I’d be there like a shot!

Saying that, if you’d told me 12 months ago that I could take a rigid into London without losing the plot, I’d have shot you.

Well I have a great job, at a great company, with a great boss, in a great truck, doin great work.

Three weeks off soon, getting married abroad and takin my dog with us.

Im happy.
