Lawrence Dunbar:
Well Dennis you could certainley tempt me, I drove one of these Atkis, PGR 251. , When I worked for Baxters, sadley ive no photos, Regards Larry.
IIRC Larry,Athersmiths ran 4 or maybe 5 waggon and trailers prior to the Transport act of 1968.They had a Power Plus Octopus,a Seddon 8 wheeler,a Leyland Steer and one or possibly two Atki’s.Brady’s had run two Power Plus Octopus’s for a while then dropped to one ,which I was on with Eric Postlethwaite.Possy always said that the Athersmith Octopus was a waste of a good motor as it’s driver,Eddie Mansell, was terrified to do more than 40 mph, even on the motorway. They were always red hot union men at Athersmiths as well as lazy ■■■■■■■■ ! What a rude awakening some of them got when Brady’s bought them out, well them that didn’t “jack” and go to Blue Dart ( another bunch of lazy ■■■■■■■■ !) or Bowater Scotts fleet.Cheers Dennis.
hiya,
Tell you what Dennis lets get Eric out of retirement, I’m bound to be rusty
now and he can give me a spot of tuition, I have seen that Atki when it was
on “active service” and with only a 150 Percy inboard it was bound to be steady
away you’d be lucky to get 50 out of it, have driven one identical to it just the
legger, no pup and was it slow just a letters before numbers reg plate and same
Lancs registration it was on 40x8s and even at that slow speed I could blow them
off like there was no tomorrow, tell Eric he won’t need the knotted rope I don’t
sleep very well these days but my roping and sheeting is bar none, ring in when
empty.

Norman Ingram:
Trust old Harry yo clear off, when I have breaking news for malt whisky drinkers! Ardbeg distillery on Islay, is sending some malt whisky into space to see if it improves or speeds up the maturation in zero gravity, it will be in space until 2013 december! This is unless Harry finds a way to get it down earlier. On the two stroke, I used to take Bedfords, Dodge’s,and Commer’s up to Scotland on plates in 1969/70’s and I am sure I drove them, but Bedford’s it was not. They all came from Luton & Dunstable area.
Harry is well supplied so send it to me, b loody madness sending stuff like that into space, I can sup as much as I can get.

Well did drool over both was a bit undecided but would rather have the bike & keep the CLK or could have both but Larry could offer to take me for a ride
Lawrence Dunbar:
Any time Ang pet, but it would have to be the Jag, I dont have a bike, the Daytona is our Nigels, Regards Larry.
I would rather ride the bike than be pillion he may not notice that it was missing for a bit but then I could drive the Jag & you could drink so driving you to drink
