Great sound to those two strokes Larry.I am a bit biased as I drove a Commer Maxiload and that sounded and went well.
Cheers Dave.

Oh yes indeed, this one of Crowbars was terrific, Mind you I only drove it around the area at Otterburn show, I was delighted when he said get in it & enjoy. Regards Larry.

Great old motor Dave but the shape of that cab inside meant it had better acoustics than the Royal Albert Hall. The noise of that two stroke didn’t need any help :open_mouth: :open_mouth:. I knew a few lads who worked for Robsons who always wore ear defenders even in the seventies. I must say though driving Ralphs Foden was an experience I really would never have missed. It was magic!!! Regards Kev.

I never drove a two stroke Foden Kev,but worked alongside a haulier that ran two eight wheelers with the two stroke engine. They sounded great. The Commer I drove sounded good, but the Foden topped that.
Cheers Dave.

Hi all,I used to love driving the old fodens,we had 15 twin steer fodens like Knowles except ours wernt two strokes ours were Leyland 680s,flyers.we ran from Runcorn to Chesterfield through Chapel en le frith and over Peak Forest. The sound they made pulling up out of Peak Forrest village was something else.I think Mr Windrush will know that road, a bit of a stinker .Good old days eh ,cheers Ted.

Hi Ted,
I remember those 680 engines in Yeomans coaches from Hereford. When they pulled up into the Square at Kington near where I live there was a real bark to them.
Cheers Dave.

Dave, you most likely could tell me if I am correct  Didn’t Dodge do a two stroke engine.

hiya,
Dave I’ve made a b"""s up it was a “Commer” two stroke I had when I drove
for J & E Transport it would fly and it seemed to open itself up and throw
a bit of black smoke out when able to keep your foot on the gas on the
motorway, no’one ever put a defect in for this “problem”

ThoughtI hadn’theard of a two stroke Dodge Harry, but as Dodge and Commer belonged to the Rootes group I thought it could have been a Commer badged as a Dodge, the same as they did with the Commando.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Will be off air for a little while this evening going to Williams “do”,
won’t be able to have a drink though will have to drive myself the
“good lady” isn’t allowed to drive just yet so will have to make do
with a glass of pop, have a new bottlle of single malt just taken
the top off so will give that a bit of wellie on my return, see yah.
thanks harry long retired.

Howay “H” you’ve been after a start for a while, now you’ve got a chance you give backward !! You know the score, you’ve got to start at the bottom when you’ve little or no experience (or a bit rusty !!) The motor’s here ready loaded to go and your letting the side down !!Cheers Dennis.

Trust old Harry yo clear off,   when I have breaking news for malt whisky drinkers! :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: Ardbeg distillery on Islay, is sending some malt whisky into space to see if it improves or speeds up the maturation in zero gravity, it will be in space until 2013 december!   This is unless Harry finds a way to get it down earlier. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:    On the two stroke, I used to take Bedfords, Dodge’s,and Commer’s up to Scotland on plates in 1969/70’s and I am sure I drove them, but Bedford’s it was not. They all came from Luton & Dunstable area.
