Ardberg is quite pleasant has a peatey taste but does go down quite smooth
Have seen Cutty Sark & JB in this country as my dad would tolerate JB so have bought it for him
I like that. I can just see the scene:- “oh all, right, I’ll drink the stuff if that’s all you’ve got”
[/quote]
But he cant raise a glass no more & wont be buying it for him anymore
as sadly he died in April

Just raise a glass in his memory as we did on Christmas day for our late parents.
Cheers Dave.

As did my father a month ago, and our daughter on 31st. August. It’s been a “difficult” Christmas.
But…onward, I’ve bought a bottle of Bowmore today, I’ll make friends with it this evening.
hiya,
Was gifted a bottle of The Macallan single malt as one of my Chrimbo prezzies have never had it before but have now sampled it and find it very nice to drink will put a dram or two in the hip flask tomorrow, should I quaff the contents of same bottle before the “do” I still have a bottle of 10 years old and a bottle of 15 years old of the Glenffidych in storage and I will need to give it some wellie to flatten that lot before tomorrow, oh and there’s a bottle of Glenmorangie tucked away for emergencies, now doesn’t that just prove that I’ve put the Winter fuel allowance to proper use, you can’t accuse me of wasting it can you ■■.
thanks harry long retired.
Very nice too Harry, My Daughter gave me a bottle of Glenmoragie, The Nectar D,or Extra Matured 15 year old in Sauternes Casks 46.Volts, havent tried it yet but Im sure I shall like it. Regards Larry.

I did very well for xmas, I won a bottle of 10 year old Bushmills malt, ( unfortunately I made the mistake of opening it and the whiskey fairy has been at it when I wasn’t looking) ops
I bought a bottle of Tullamore then I was rooting around in the loft and came across a bottle of Glenfiddich from last year. I was then given another by Santa along with a bottle of
Grouse, and a bottle of Glayva. I don’t know how I’m going to get through it all !!!
Ps I might just bring a sample along with me tomorrow if anyone can help me with it.
regards kev.
Kev I hope you are using proper optic measures, if not you might run out of of the nectars before the do, & Harry & I will have to look after you, Regards Larry.
Larry, i have taken the correct measures with my optics, I have removed them from my nose in case I fall over and break them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Regards Kev.
Well Kev, Im getting picked up at 7.00 PM By our Nigel so I should be there before 7.30. Dont remark If Im limping, Because the hip flasks will be the cause of it, See you then Regards Larry.
Apparently the venue has been splashed all over “face book” so you’ll be overrun by every “■■■■ head” within a 25 mile radius, including “makems”,I don’t fancy been in The Labour Club to-morrow,member or no member !!! Howay the lads !!! Dennis.
Dennis why dont you join us, & see how us proper Gordies perform, forget ropes & sheets, & come & enjoy our company as we will certainley enjoy yours, If you like malts we will call you one of the boys Eh Cheers Larry Of The Glen----Morangie, I would look forward to meeting you, Regards LARRY

Hiya Larry, hope you had an enjoyable Christmas,we did, just back from Kendal after 3 day’s at our son’s.As much as I’d like to join you and your “motley” crew for a good craic, suitably lubricated by the sounds of it,I’m afraid it is a non-starter ! Anyhow,I’ve been led astray and got into lumber too often in the past so it would be more than my miserable life’s worth to start those antics again !!! But I wish you and the other lads All The Best to-morrow and I promise that at about 7.30/8.0 pm to-morrow I’ll toast your Good Health !!! well any excuse for a drop of the amber nectar eh ! Cheers Dennis.
Thank you Dennis, We will toast your good health as well, as a true gent to the haualge game, Regards Larry. & Co.
Larry I hope you don’t lead Harry into drinking too much single malt.
Had a meal at my daughters on christmas day and went out to a pub called the Windhover, had a bet on that tip I gave in June "Bishophill Jack ", it won again at 5/2, I had a couple of appletizer to celebrates.
Hope all you lads had a good time. Cheers Norman
There will be some diesel fumes and rubber burned at that Geordie do Norm.I expect a few yarns will be told about the good old days on the road.It will be interesting to see the photo’s when someone posts them in a day or two .
Cheers Dave.
Hi to you all. I will be 73 next May, I drove for Dents Of Spennymoor from 1969 til they closed in 1990
Hi Bill,
Good to have you on Trucknet. There’s quite a few on this thread in their 70’s as you probably know.
Will be one or two you might know.Look forward to hearing about your days on the road.
Cheers Dave.
Days on the road? I remember one dark snowy night I was coming over the Brecon Beacons (no motorways in those days, i was only a young fella), I had a Commer with a TS3 in it…it got warm and it de-coked itself. I was terrified, I though the world was coming to an end, it was just like a volcano erupting.
I later found out that it was a normal thing for the TS3 to do.

hiya,
Was just about still in the land of the living when Larrry arrived 7-30ish but was rather well lubricated very soon after, but I had been giving the very large single malts a bit of wellie commencing at home before getting to the venue at around 1-30 got a thick ear when I arrived home could do with a “livener” but daren’t venture near the drinks cupboard just yet the “old lady” may venture to the corner shop shortly and I might just be able to “steal” a swift one in her absence, still this experience has taught me a valuable lesson yes I’m going to stow a bottle down the shed, she won’t question it when I explain I’m popping down there for a screwdriver.
