Dave you are behind the times, the new buses must have a fold down ramp and they lower to let push chairs and wheel chairs, and they have special spaces which they can park and secure wheelchairs with padded backs, and people using seats must move if sitting in this area. Norm

To do that in Dave’s area Norman they would firstly have to uncouple the horse which all takes time, then jack the coach up to remove the wheels (more time) before finally lowering it to the floor. Then get a ‘chippy’ to knock a few seats out, just isn’t practical I fear.

Pete.

The buses in this area are supposedly accessible Norm, but from what I’ve been told they don’t anchor the chair down which I find amazing.I would have thought health and safety issues are breached. Also we don’t have a regular bus service to anywhere other than the small market towns. If you wanted to go onto Hereford or somewhere else it would mean changing buses etc.I have my own transport,so no problem.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Larry pleased to hear the “Good Lady” is getting better and also
the family think enough about you to make sure you get out for
a bit of extra amber nectar, good to hear mate, just hope that
you haven’t gotten too rusty at the noble game of domino’s and
you didn’t spend all night knocking, the club that I used to visit
(not a member) is now an old peoples home, hope the next time
I’m anywhere by the place I’m not being ushered through the door
as an incumbent.    Keep o’er to the left.

hiya,
Dave you’ve given me something to think about mate, strip domino’s eh’,
couldn’t it be me playing the same game but with the “nurses”, I might be
an old codger but I’m not yet brown bread, and here’s a thought for the
day Dave you don’t have to be crackers to post on here, but it helps.

I expect she would manage Dave. She puts up with me and the dog,but then again she reckons its her dog. I don’t know a lot about low-loaders.S W Brisbane one of the firms I drove for ran one which was used to shift their own plant around, when there was no plant to move they hitched the unit up to a single axle tipping trailer which was a terrible thing to reverse,as it was very short. Then a driver called Fred Scotford came there who had driven just about everything made it look simple. He could put the thing anywhere,he hauled tarmac to the machines, something which none of the previous drivers had done.
Cheers Dave.

Don’t think its safe for horses on the roads anymore, although we still see a few taking a chance on them.I always slow down for them as they are entitled to use the road. But some of today’s drivers won’t slow down for anyone.
I’ve been cut up twice in the last 24 hours by car drivers pulling in when they are halfway by overtaking my van and not realising there were other vehicles in front of me. :imp:
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Just wondering Dave how long would it take to become fully conservant
with the workings of one of these and work it as it should be I’ll bet you
knew you’d been to work after a shift driving one of them backwards and
forwards all day, but at least you’d be nice and warm and have somwhere
to heat the tea and make the toast.

By the looks of the badge on the front that roller looks like an ex Leeds City Council machine. A fine bit of kit.

Here’s another one of the steam roller Brian.Don’t know where it is now.I think Ken Watkins sold it a couple of years ago.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Always thought that steam vehicles whether roller or lorry had to
have a registration plate the ones I’ve seen at shows always have.
