Old Skool

I’d like to congratulate the driver of the white Actros eastbound out of Swindon on the 420 at about 6am this morning.

This is a man who obviously lives in the real world and although he wanted to do 40mph he was realistic enough to understand that those following want to travel quicker, he therefore showed his consideration by carrying all the way around roundabouts thus letting the following traffic clear.

Old school and very professional imo.

Of course someone will now post saying that I should’ve been doing 40 too and so should never have caught him, but like I said… real world.

So this guy drives all the way round roundabouts to let traffic pass? Must have a ■■■■ easy day then.

I often do the same on the 420, doesn’t add much to the journey time, only a couple of minutes.

All the way? It aint exactly a long way is it?

Depends on the size of the roundabout!

Good point, well made.

I shall concede gracefully!

Sounds like a nice bloke. I would sack him though for unnecessary wear on the trailer tyres.

And wasting fuel and dragging the job out!

You wanna be careful stonking along that road as the static camera is set up to nab you doing over 40 in a truck,I know this as it had me a few years back.

And for doing 40.

Maybe he’s on £30ph and his duty is a half hour run down the road and back, with a zero hour contract? :unamused:

Why the roll eyes? Jeez…No sense of fun there then! :open_mouth:

Had a driver do this only this morning and I certainly do it myself.

Never have I not had a toot or a flash of the hazards.

It might add 30 seconds to your day but it builds respect amongst other drivers and might just help someone arrive on time for that important interview/meeting/3 sum.

Had a gig once moving fully laden refuse carts from Shaftesbury to Hedge End, S’ton and back. They were going from the council depot to the dealer for treatment.

Used the A30 from Wilton to Shaftesbury and these autobox 6w were very gutless to say the least, they would do the 56 but it had to be flat or downhill with a couple miles to accelerate sort of thing.

Anyway when I had collected around 10 cars and vans I would pull over into a layby and let ‘em pass - nice to see the ol’ thumbs up coming out the windows.

Saves a lot of stress all round for the sake of a couple of minutes each way.

HELLO to the tractor driving community!!!

Maybe he was lost or thought he was at his turn off then realised he wasn’t once he got half way around the roundabout.

No sense of fun indeed. Hanging it out on that hourly rate would be a religious duty to someone like me! Like all religious duties, it’s very serious business! :smiling_imp:

Ive also got to admit, I pull in to let traffic pass if and when I can … I just se it as being polite to other road users if i let them get on. As has been said, 30 seconds - 1 minute or so sn’t a lot to add to the journey. :sunglasses:
