Old Oswestry

Hi Nev, It was good to meet up with you at Oswestry at the weekend.
Your ERF looks really good. I’m guessing that it’s the Kev Dennis one?. That was for sale at Donington?.
Regards,
John.

Many thanks Nev.Good to see it has survived, I think there are one or two more of these twinsteer( Lowe ) knocking around too.
They must have made an impressive sight steaming down to Sardinia.
The firm is still trading but disposed of the transport side long ago.Rent out their huge coldstores in their yard and other units to local businesses.

Would that be Quick Freight used to have some with Westermans on em and they did run out of Kellogs a while ago.

Hi nianiamh. Yes i can remember a MAN drawbar that had a Shropshire regestration it was also left hand drive with Westerman on the tarpaulins .Thier was also i think an Iveco as well doing european work for Kellogs .

Have not seen them around recently regards Kingswinfordkit

Hi, The roadtrains & Fords of QFS belonged to Perrys of Gobowen and the Wagon & Drags were owned by a man called John who pulled for Westermans and there Depo was at Rednal Ind Estate.
Nev

Hi boys
The Westerman trucks were owned by John Renalds who traded as Quickfraight from Rednal Ind Est and Westerman was I think a German firm that they worked for. We made him two tri axle close coupled trailer chassis in the mid 80s using ROR running gear on air. They had to have a deck height of half a metre which was hard to achieve, as they needed as much capacity as possible for groupage work. We put skids under the back end so that they could drag them on and off the ferries. John and his son built all the body work in house. Sorry no photos. BTW about that time they were running close coupled tandems that had drawbars that extended when they went around corners so that the trailer did not catch the truck and when straitened up would retract to bring them back into the legal limit.

Regards Keith

Hello Keith . Thanks for that interesting info regarding QFS . Was all their work Kellogs or did they do other things? regards KK

Hi boys
KK Sorry didn’t know what they carried only groupage to and from Europe, don’t know about Kelloggs. Has anyone any photos??

Regards Keith.

Only got a few pics of the stuff QF were running before i moved to Canada last year XF Dafs with poles driving em,
they done a lot of the drinks can work out of Continental Can in Wrexham,
met an old guy whod been with them for years, a right old dog of the road, he was on one of there old 4 series Scanias with the demount bodies with the Wheels logo on em, i think these were something to do also with Westermans they also had some at one time with the Craiss logo on em not sure if they may of been old bodies theyd bought and fitted or if they were on for them.
