hi lads larry can you remember the name of the guy that ran 3 rivers transport back in the 60tys, took these of les yesterday at west chevington his motor still look and sound great, also this one of northumbrian road, some of the durham lads may know this firm from crook, bumper

Well I knew Alan Thompson in 1973, I used to see him at Newlandside Quarry at Stanhope he had a 6 wheeler Leyland in those good old days, He must be retired now & his son/s running it , good pictures Im going up to see Les shortley Im wanting to have a his ERF, Regards Larry.

Aye Hoults ,still going, My cousin at Seaton Burn still has one of their old single axel step frame trailers like the one in the photo, in fact its quite possible it could be the same one, he got it in the earley 80s Either from Coatsies or Montes. Regards Larry.

What did Ridley’s carry ■■, can’t have been much industry out in the sticks where they was based,
used to see loads of them up and down the A1 but never got to know any of the drivers, they did
seem to have plenty of motors and was they all vans??,can’t remember seeing any roped and sheeted
loads, but can’t remember 10 minutes ago, so they might have had them and I hadn’t noticed.

HI,bumper-- There was a Three Rivers Transport in the mid/late 60s., but based in Newcastle, off Argyle St. Its boss was called Hedley Spoors. He ran some ex. Vaux Breweries Commer 2 stroke flats, painted dark blue. He also had an ex. Ranks Flour Foden 8 wheeler flat, reg no. DAN 14.This may or may not be the same company that you mention. Regards, Eric.

Just been reading an old post of Larry Dunbar’s where he mentions a shovel driver at Mootlaw called Fred.
There’s a guy called Fred Burn driving a shovel for Owen Pugh at Hayhole Road, North Shields. He can be…er…lets say…moody! Wonder if it’s the same Fred, I think he did used to work at Mootlaw.

Steve I have committed myself to the next couple of weeks on holiday relief ( the money for the hours involved are magic) so I’m waitng until
