Thanks for the info Bumper, I’ve seen one or two of Downtons DAF’s in the yard in their colours so wondered if they had got them from there. I haven’t got the latest dates for my stand by week from the end of March yet Jim but don’t think I’m on until Easter Monday so should be okay for the do, barring any lurgies and tropical diseases this time! Should be a good turn out, looking forward to a natter again and seeing some faces from here too. I’ve been busy with this model lately, just got a few more bits to add and change the wheels to the old split ring type, my old mans Seddon 220 from Steenburgs. Cheers Franky.

hiya,
Yes Kev remember those “rockin boots” and if he’s like his old man they’ll be stowed away somewhere just in case, his dad never threw anything away and you know what they say like father like son, have’nt seen young Geordie for a year or two myself the last time i saw him he was still an O / D and had a twin steer MAN i put new king pins in the second steer for him one Friday afternoon for the test, “it passed”.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi ste burrow, wallace transport used to leave some of there motors at normans cafe at brotherton at weekends in the early 80,s but this practice stopped when the locals found out that the trailers were loaded with KP nuts & crisps. Anyway here are some photos taken at the time , hope these may be of interest, regards mick.
Cheers for that Mick. They even had a Scania 81 sleeper must ave been a conversion.
A mate of mine once travelled around haulage firms in the northeast asking if he could take photos ,john dickinson was the only one that refused him entry.
Freeman Volkers and Stuart, at one time a major haulier out of the Teesside steelworks, Bought by Prestons of Potto it carried on for many years as a subsidary running under its own livery.
Now very few FVS liveried left as the decision was made to livery in the parent companies colours, although I beleive it is still under the FVS name for the O licence and is a seperate subsidary rather than a depot
Still very much involved in steel transport both from the Steelworks and from fabricators.
