Hi ste burrow, wallace transport used to leave some of there motors at normans cafe at brotherton at weekends in the early 80,s but this practice stopped when the locals found out that the trailers were loaded with KP nuts & crisps. Anyway here are some photos taken at the time , hope these may be of interest, regards mick.
I tipped in Simpsons yard Friday, It made Normans car park look like a billiard table. regards kevmac47

A mate of mine once travelled around haulage firms in the northeast asking if he could takephotos ,john dickinson was the only one that refused him entry.
What about T F Corner of Winston just along the road from Dickinsons, Corners were big into bulk blowers, bulk tippers(rigid and artic) and tanks.
I often see S C Transport vehicles which I assume is Michael s son, Stephen.
Paw123 SC Transport Finished at the end of last year.
Give me a ring sometime still on the same home number.

Once did a delivery to corners yard, noticed a ERF tractor unit & a six wheeler wrecker laid in long grass, looked like the wrecker had been there some time, is this the one that is now in restoration?. regards mick.

What about Stillers probably the largest ever North East fleets in vehicle numbers, before becoming unstuck after their unusual acquisition spree.

Heres one from the old days 1975 before he got too big.
Where was this taken (it is not Preston Farm), still a large fleet for those days, early 70âs. I note that they are all Volvos and Magirus Deutz, also they had tankers in those days as well. Were Stillers one of the first Magirus Deutz users in the UK.
Later they went on to buy:
Econofreight (part of)
Sadlers
Pete Osbourne
Carline (stupid move1)
Starr Roadways
James Durran

Ouseburn were also early users of the Magirus, go back to page 27 and 31, although the S reg is from around 78, I was shown a new Maggie in the workshop when on leave from the army, this would be about 73. They seemed to like them and thought they were good value for money. Franky.
