George Taylor is no longer with us, I knew George from living on a farm very near to his. âYoung Edwinâ is still going I think I knew his mother and father better having done some work for them as indeed I did for George before he went bump and moved to Shotley Bridge

Signwriting by Billy Slaughter from Morpeth. Regards Larry.0
hiya,
This is one of the nicest liveries Larry, these wallpapered jobbies of today do nothing for me,
Iâll bet good signwriters are rare these days, nice to see my friend, shouldnât think that gold
leaf isnât used much in this day and age, maybe a little on restorations of oldies.
thanks harry long retired.
truckers boy:
gurty: are you on bankâs low loader? i was talking to a gurteen that was on for cooler recycling today at work.
Are you riving this one Mr G.?
C901LNL? A little before my driveing days! Dont recognise where that isâŚTeesport maybe?? I used to do weekend work down there but never in an F7!! I used to have hundreds of pictures of the fleet but unfortunately my ex wife through them out
I think your right gurty as the wings and part of the doors are channel green and they were only on the B/C reg F7âs and because the number plate is high on the grill its got to be C901LNL possibly Tony Cooper driving it â â KG3
Or me
Go on then old Sidd, give me a clue â â there was 4x C reg F7âs all new when I started in the garage in 1985- Billy Cornish C898LNL, Derek Caterer C897LNL, Tony Cooper C901LNL but canât remember who drove C896LNL â â ? Possibly little Joe with the glasses, but cant remember his last name !!! Moved off Y964 F7 8W â â ? KG3
To be honest I think it was after my time!. I drove TFT497Y which was an F10 down the road during the miners strike. I drove F7,s before that but mainly at West Chevington on the opencast, we also led out of Monkton to a site just along the road forget the name it was given . Was the Derek you refer to a âBIGâ lad.We used to travel up to Chevington every morning in an old sherpa van I think it had a single cylinder lister in it!!! used to be pergatory but had a good laugh, lads I remember as I have a photo somewhere that keeps surfacing of us in the van were Topper , Sid little old Tony and others and Billy drove the van, his son had just started driving , happy days
That van was in the garage wthe day I started in at Gurteens as an apprentice and TFT 499Y was the first motor I serviced with Ernie and Huey so F10s are speciel to me. The Sherpa went without the head being fixed I believe as it was dead. some time later I had to swop one of the engines on those site Fodens we had, first and only Gardiner experience !!! that was the start of hard but good times for the next 12 years or so ending up as Forman.Yes your right Derek Caterer was a big lad but you couldnât wish to meet a nicer guy and I saw him a few years later and had not changed. All the old guyâs were good lads and you could have a laugh with. I would like to see that picture of the gang sidd ? Keith
Wingnut:
heres 2 of stan hayes and some random ones
Alan, it didnât matter which wagon you drove or for who, they were always smart and clean but never standard !!! KG3
cheers KG3 but come on tell me your proper name
Come on Alan cant you remember â Keith, I was forman in the garage when you came from Lincolnâs as a skip driver. You had that Merc mini skip gleaming and helped me out6 a few times in the workshop. I still see you and the motor going up and down the road but never able to catch with you for a chat. You always said that you wanted to get onto the big stuff- dreams aye !!.

I will try and fish it out but its one of those that you keep getting out then stuffing it in among some letters on the dresser you know how it is I wish I,d been the sort to take photos but I wasnt, its good that we are not all the same. I cant believe what the likes of Mr dunbar a F7 have got in thier collections, they have done us all proud keeping them as otherwise the memories would fade and dissapear. We all look back with rose coloured glasses but they were harder times for drivers and having had twenty years off the difference is more apparent between then and now. I would love to sit in the old f10 and remenice but I used to get homesick back then especially with a bonny wife at home n
