Your right there Larry, Stan Hayes, I lived in the same street as him when he had that Mandator, or was it a Beaver?? My good lady used to give me some grief about how he never seemed to move the motor and I was never home. :imp: :imp: I wonder ā– ā–  regards Kev.

I was loading at Komatsu this morning and saw Coltons big Volvo, so not being a shy child I went and made myself known to Wingnut.

Hi Heatherjumper. you would think it would be set at 16+ coz when i pulled in the lad said the tunnel is 16 8 in the near side lane but do not cross the white line or the bells will go off.

Hi Kev, yes took all the advice at the time but I still wonder what life would be if I had not…but sure I made the right choice, I will live 10 years longer with out the stress of being an owner driver ha ha   . Pension  what pension the Tories have taken care of that.
Hi Animal glad I dont owe you money
Back to the tunnel height restrictions.
Northbound tunnel is 16ft 8ins in lane 1 and 13ft in lane 2. The reason for the two different lane heights is the curve of the tunnel roof and the cameras which are located above lane 2. There also used to be VMS signs above lane 2 but they had to be removed after a 16ft curtainsider ignored the signs, crossed into lane 2 and brought 2 signs down.
Southbound tunnel is no problem at all 16ft 8 ins in both lanes so HGVS can use both lanes. If you are not sure and the your vehicle sets off the warning lights pull into the left hand side layby and speak to the lad on duty. Had a couple of car transporters hit the clatter bars in lane 2 (13ft) northbound it makes a right mess of the first car on top.
Once your in the Tunnels do not cross the white lines and stick to the speed limits. 30mph north and 40mph south cos starting to clamp down on the idiot drivers and cctv being passed on to the boys in blue.

Regards
Colin.
