0Is there any of Baxters old drivers out there got one of these, I dont know why but for some reason or other they were a tight kept secret.? I was handed mine by Jonnie Baxter himself, the only other driver I knew that was handed one was my mentor Parkey Denholm [RIP]. , So if any of my old workmates are still about I would be very pleased to hear from them. Regards Larry.
hi lawrence one of the best quiet men i ever met on the road was parkey we used to meet at the towers at biggleswade he always had a bottle of broon and trout for his tea regards jimmy
E Swindells and Son,
I worked for this company for 8 years from 84 till 92, Eric Swindells being the only man in the Darlington area willing to give me , a 21 year old newly qualified driver a shot at long distance on a bedford 4 wheeler on the cape asbestos contract then progressing to a 1976 volvo f86, 2 f88s 2 f7s and various other trucks, ending my stint for them on e10 ERF,
Swindells were a long established general haulage company who carried anything anyware in the UK, there yellow and blue flatbeds could be seen for many years tramping backwards and forwards to London and kent, we carried paper reels, steel, concrete timber and anything else that would go on flat. roping and sheeting was the norm as was changing wheels and minor repairs roadside, as a 21 year old this certainly opened my eyes to the real world of truck driving but it was a good learnig curve, Eric was a hard but fair gaffer as was his son Martin and i enjoyed my time driving for them as did many of the life long friends I made while working there.
I would love to here from any ex ss sqaudron,

I’m on a Bank’s tipper but have done a little bit on the low loader and the ■■■■■■ van when the drivers have been on holiday. You would have been speaking to Paul. He works there.

Either Cornish or Alfie Maw would have been the last I think? Malcolm (Fire Fox) Littlewood drove Lincoln’s last F7 I think, AUP401W?? Maybe 1999/2000 when they got shot of that??
