Taking a guess from the background it could be what became the Jet filling station and is now the Hand Carwash just before the Dunn Street junction.

Hi Allan, IIRC It was an owner drivers Foden, Ed Stamp got it from Dennis Eastwood Tyburn Road Birmingham it was just over a year old, When Ed sold it Chas Leonard at Guisbrough got it. Hope this info is good. Larry.

Cramlington Airfield forerunner to Newcastle Airport approx 1930 and a Bero AEC on the Gateshead side of the River sometime in the 60’s.

The Northumberlandia Country Park on the Blagdon to Cramlington road next to the Snowy Owl pub backs onto the site of the old airfield (or what’s left of it after the open-casting). At the far North-East corner of the Park (just off the A1068) there are a couple of display boards giving some background and history of the airfield. The storyboards say that the airfield closed in the mid-1930s.

Iirc F was Freeman V was Volker but I can’t remember what the S was, so I wondered if you knew.

FVS stood Freeman Volker Stuart/Stewart they became part of Prestons quite a few years ago now but kept their old identity for years.
