Good pictures of W.Richardson’s ‘k’ Series Fords-not many other operators ran these. ‘Commercial Motor’ did an article on Richardsons, noting that they built their own tipper bodies, and always had one ‘in build’ I think this picture shows one of their later fleet of Dodge’s being loaded by a Drott, probably one of their own machines.
Apologies for posting this picture again, but Iv’e just remembered about this Bedford’s driver, Horace, who lived in Throckley.-he always had his little white Scottie dog with him…If Horace was on a job leading from a demolition or building site, he would make tea in his enamel billy-can,(remember those?) with water from the Baby Burco hot water boiler in the bait cabin. put the cup lid on and hang the billy can from the sidelamp bracket (within easy reach of the drivers door) He would then drive a short distance, find a place to park, then reach out for the can, by which time the tea had cooled nicely, ready to drink! It was unusual to have the sidelamps on brackets, the normal place on these was,of course, on top of the wings.
I remember Richardsons running a S 18 Foden ex NCC, Any photos about ? Regards Larry.
