Look out fellas, this cowboy is looking for work, will anyone give him a reference??
Ps. He found a pair of boots! You can use this pic to keep the kids away from the fire.

Old photo of Swan House being built, with a Commer van in the foreground and one of Cookies Leyland’s following, what a monstrosity that building was, a result of the ‘concrete era’ when Architecture went out the window, there is more glamour in the Leyland! Franky.

Just behind Swan House and built at roughly the same time was the Bank of England regional office. It was another concrete monstrosity and most of the panels were formed at Springwell Quarry by a company called Norcrete specially set up for the job.
We had a couple of four wheel flats set up with a frame to deliver the panels 4 or 6 per load. It was very nearly a 24 hour a day job.
Cheers Tyneside.
GT Freight, owned by Gary Tweddle, I was talking to him a few weeks ago when I was having tyres fitted to my car. I worked with him many years ago at Onward Transport Birtley. His motors are always immaculately turned out. He runs mostly flat trailers, don’t go for a job unless you can sheet and rope!! Regards Kev.

They normally stay in the yard at Stephenson in Washington the old timex place there are a few companies in there often see them as Kev says they are mainly flats although I have seen 1 pulling an Elddis trailer recently

Well Albee welcome to TNUK, If you scroll back on this thread there is a couple of Tommy Dodds Motors on, As for Frankie Dodds, I haven’t seen any photos of his motors on here, But Im sure someone will have some, I can remember himn running a Ford Trader, Six wheeler twin steer Dodge, The late Alan Cox would drive it, Young Hubert drover a 4 wheeler Commer running out of Greenleighton Quarry for Tilcon in the 70s, There was also a 6 wheeler Dodge at that time too I think the drivers name was Morffy or something like that ?, Hopefully someone will dig some old photos of the late old Franky Dodds motors out & keep his mems alive, Regards Larry.
Found this Gold mine while passing through Seaton Burn the other day & got talking to the owner Dave Lowdon, can any of you guys remember G Lowdon transport
Great photos Servo88, Dave is a good pal of mine along with his Dad, His brother Freddie, & his sister Susan, I used to ride with their drivers when I was a boy when they did opencast coal in the 40s, This is one of their Leylands on the coal job, Regards Larry.
