Hi Larry
Here’s a photo that I put onto scrapbook memories of Carl Gibson’s (R.I.P.) Foden, I seem to remember getting the original print of Fodens themselves when in my younger days I collected information off vehicle manufactures etc. regards prattman.

Can you also remember Dougie Young another owner driver from Haltwhistle, He had an E reg 1967 6 wheeler Dodge Flat wagon doing cut timber I think , He also had a 6 wheeler mixer on for Pioneer at one time, Then he had a 6 wheeler Leyland Reiver tipper working out of Styford Quarry, The last time I spoke to him he was driving a loading shovel at Fourstones landfill site for the council, That was in the 80/90s era, I wonder if he is still about, He was a bit of a lad in those days, Regards Larry.
Hi iv just joined the forum, some good reading and photo,s brought back memories of my younger days.My dad drove for Redmires out of Newlandside and Frosterley, Pratmans photo,s of the ERF in the mart yard , driver was Bob Bell. the foden in the yard was Bill Reed, they both came at the same time and they drove them from new, I used to go with my dad every weekend help with the greasing and setting brakes up was a must as 5 runs to Consett every day and 3 on a Sat used to eat them up. Have got some photo,s of dads wagons he drove, when i find out how to put them on i will
Hi servo88
Thanks for the comments about my Redmires photo’s, you mention you went with your dad out of interest did you follow in his footsteps and become driver and also out of interest do you still live in the wolsingham area, looking forward to seeing your photo’s. Regards prattman
Hi prattman no dad said get a trade as the wagon game was long hours and not the best wages. So ended up as a plumber and heating engineer, but i did miss the wagons. Still went with him till i was 21, on weekends. Yes i live at Tow Law , dad was at Redmires for about 7 years then Slaters bought them out he got a brand new foden with 680 leyland plus engine 12 speed box. A flying machine compaired to his previous 2 strokes and gardiners JAJ 47E was the reg. They made all the drivers redundant and sold out to Tilcons, my regards servo88
Great stuff Servo 88, Fodens are one of my fave wagons, I ran out of Newlandside in the 70s for Tilcon the old Foden was just great going over Crawleyside when loaded for Tilcons Trumix plant at Scotswood Rd Newcastle , Happy long gone days, Regards Larry.
Dad used to tip at Ready mix along there, over Scotwood bridge on the left then another one further along , also the one down over the swing bridge and up to pottery lane, think thats what you called the street. Regards servo88
