Don’t forget the Tyne Tees run this Sunday. Stockton to Bents Park, South Shields via Chester-Le-Street. I’ve got about 4 years worth of Classic Commercial in binders from 1997 free to anybody who wants them. I should be in my white Scimitar, just give me a shout.

I heard they were going to the D.L.I. museum instead of the Civic Centre at Chester-Le-Street this year cos the council were gonna charge £200 to open it up so people could use the toilets. They’re supposed to be going to knock the place down so they’ll have to find somewhere else to stop anyway.

Where is the DLI Museum located please ■■?, Regards Larry.

I stand corrected, this year the half time halt is at the DLI Museum. This is next to the County Hall.

It’s on the main road into Durham Larry the A691,from Chester-Le-Street head up the By pass to the 691 (Consett/Durham) left towards the Hospital,at the bottom of the bank there’s the big roundabout at County Hall turn right for Durham left hand lane, halfway down pull into the left(Don’t go under the bridge)the DLI is in there

Birtley Truckstop late 80s

Here’s some scanned images of Redmires of Wolsingham Newlandside Quarry at Stanhope, these images were loaned to me by Craig Porter son of Brian Porter (R.I.P) as I have mentioned earlier my dad when he was alive worked for Redmires so they always hold a special place in my heart, I have also downloaded some photo’s of the Tyne-Tess road run on my thread truck shows past and present if anybody is interested. regards prattman.

Great photos Pratman, They are among the best Ive seen, I used to go into Newlandside Quarry, But it was owned by Tilcon by then, Its little wonder the good old Fodens were used, That pull over Crawleyside certainly sorted the motors out, In fact there was a six wheeler Bedford that couldn’t get up the bank when loaded, Happy long gone Foden Days, Keep them coming, Regards Larry.

Not exactly a haulage company, but it will still bring back memories of years ago. Regards Kev.
