More great stuff Prattman, I remember Fodens place on North Rd Darlington when I started on distance work in the late 50s, It went from there to a firm in Faverdale who took over the Foden agency Commercial Truck Services IIRC, Happy long gone days Eh gone forever but never forgotten in my book, Regards Larry.

Here’s a couple more photo’s from Craig Porters collection, the first one depicts a couple of Fodens belonging to Tancred Gravel ltd and one belonging to Redmires the second is a line up of four Fodens belonging to Salkeld Brothers, Wards and Olivers Foden from West Auckland. regards prattman.

Foden S 80 Tanker RRM 555M.jpg

Hi prattman and Lawrence, Those are great pictures of H D Ward’s Foden 8 wheelers hauling timber, A local lad to me drove one over here in ■■■■■■■ in the late 1960s, suppose he was based at Barry & Dryden Ward’s premises at Brayton Aspatria and who are still there. Geof went on to be a low loader driver for Fred Brown of Cardewlees before sadly becoming ill and finally passing on at a young age.
With regard to Commercial Truck Services at Faverdale, Darlington I bought a new S80 eight wheel chassis cab off them in 1973 fitting it with a dual compartment powder tank which I ran for about 4 years before selling it on to The Northstore Company at Burnley.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

Ive just heard that another driver has passed away, Ray Black, He worked for Fergys when I first got to know him, A real canny lad, Im sure he will be missed by all his family, & lads that worked with him, RIP Ray, Regards Larry & Nigel.

Not cheap , 23 pound odd would have been a lot of money in 1938 I would think, Great nostalgic stuff though, Keep the coming, Regards Larry.

Here’s some more old stuff, this has been loaned to me by a work colleague who’s father saved these photo’s from going on the scrapheap.
Some of the photo’s have brief details on the back some do not unfortunately, but no doubt someone here might shed more light on them.
regards prattman.
