Any of you North East drivers remember Norman Barwick he had his own motor for a long time His nickname was The Big Yin after Billy Conley as he had a beard, The last I heard of him he was driving for Shepherd or Fruit & General which was the same Co, Any photos about of his wagons ■■, Regards Larry.

Did he have a blue Sed/Atk 4x2 unit at some time as an O/D in the early 90`s. ?

sure marriots from ferryhill had a hino that did spain regularly

Yes, Mr Malcolm Marriott (R.I.P) had a Hino that did continental work, Sorry that my photo album was lost by a former employer, S Foster, also of Ferryhill, or I could have posted more photo’s of it

You can just see a bit of it on the left of the pic at Witton Castle before it was even registered or painted in Marriotts blue & silver colours

Great pics from Witton Castle, iirc that smart F88 belonged to an OD. Last time I saw it was round the back of Volvo at Washington looking proper sorry for itself. Has nobody got any pics or tales from Redpaths of Wooler or Bells of Ashington who were both swallowed up by the mighty “F Troop” from Blyth, or what about the James Gang from the same neck of the woods?

Hullo,
I’m pretty sure Larry can answer this question for me. I’ve been wracking my brain, trying to think of the company from the North East that took over the Wards Pressed Steel work, from S A Bell’s of Malton. I am pretty certain that they came from the Yarm area, though maybe not. I can visualise their yard, it was in a village and it was right on a quite tight bend in the road. They were quite a large company. This would have been in the early '80’s. They in turn lost the work to R J Jones from South Wales. Does anybody know please.
Cheers, Archie.

Thank you Andrew V8,
Yes mate, that’s the firm I was thinking of. I could see their yard, I could see the Yellow and Blue lorry’s, and I knew it was in the direction of Yarm. Thanks very much.
Cheers, Archie.
