hiya,
I’ve been rattling my brain all day trying to recall the name of the great little
café that was on the North bound lane of the A1 just before Scotch Corner it
is now a Travelodge and Little Chef called in with the Missus last Saturday for
a cuppa and have tried to recall what it was called in it’s transport café days,
It was well patronised by the North East lads (if you could get parked), many
times it’s been a case of just drive through when I’ve called with heavy stuff.
thanks harry, long retired.

writings are towards the end of page two.

Hi, all I’m new to this forum but got one or two pics for you, starting with this one of shorts. The car was brand new and a disabled adaption.
That’s a great photo of Shorties Seddon they had a few of them in those days, To get the photo the right way up have a look at your file where its stored you will see some arrows at the bottom of they picture which will enable you to correct it, That’s the way mine works anyway, I hope it works for you, Regards Larry.
I will get the hang of it Larry, the photo was taken when my father,Jackie johnston was Forman fitter at shorts. I have more of my grandfather and dad but need to take them from a disc first.keith
Heres a
step back in time` for you Northern Eastern Boys .
Taken from December 29 th., 1967 issue of Commercial Motor.
The caption to this photograph reads :
" Keeping vehicles on the road and earning their keep at the minimum cost are prime functions of road transport engineers.
But organized training is essential if higher fitness standards for increasing numbers of vehicles are to be met.
Here a Cawthorn & Sinclair vehicle is undergoing maintenance at Birtley ".
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
