This crack about P/H Is great, Its got my old grey cells fired up, I remember some sort of hold up on the A 1 south of Doncaster & some thieving git nicked a radio out of one of their artics , Also I remember a 6 wheeler Dodge with the LAD Cab & a trailing axle, I think the reg was ACU ///B. Regards Larry

I Larry you were right about the LAD Dodges they had 2, ACU???B I would have to ask Malcolm the full reg No.they were brand new and totally knackered at 3 years old.I can remember Malcolm doing a deal with FITTIE(Norman Fitt from Coxhoe)to trade one of the Dodges for a 40 foot trailer(unheard of those days as 33 foot was a long trailer)it was a Carrimore,he brought it to Felton with an F86 dropped it off and loaded the F86 onto the Dodge to return to Coxhoe.Little did he know that the 2 speed axle was u/s and locked in high with a block of wood the batteries where u/s and the Dodge had been ticking over for best part of the morning. As I say it was knackered. The next day Fittie rang up and wanted the trailer back(take it he realized he had part exd a pup)too late the trailer was in bits…1st load was from Proctor and Gamble,City Road and got as far as Felling where the pit was(now the car park for the Angel)and it broke its neck, guess what?the 33 foot single axle Scammell trailer was sent down to tranship the load (handball them days),so there you go there wernt any real winners in the end.

The picture shows the loading dock to the left of the picture the the F86 was loaded from

Great photos B series. Remember seeing the 2 Bseries ERF standing in the old yard, on the loading dock shining in the sun, waiting to go on the road for about 3 week when new.The first ERF,s i had seen with the new 10 stud wheel trims, as you know this is something that has stuck in my mind for 35 years. Always looked forward to going through Felton as a child to see what was in P+H’s yard, loved the livery! Great memories.

Hello ERF64cu1 spot the difference!

HEY B series they are cracking pics of pentleton,s motors, keep em coming.

Both the AEC Mandator and LV ERF where bought by E+N Ritchie,Hetton le Hole after P+H were finished with them. I will see if i can get some photos of there later lives.

This AEC Was supplied by Oswald Tillotson Ltd Burnley They were also Dodge Agents at the same time, Regards Larry.
