Old Landrovers

Yeah, and when we weighed the trailer it was 3400kg except that we couldn’t move it until other stuff was moved, and in that time the loose stuff in the trailer was complimented with soiled peat waste, then it rained… Nevermind, always a learning curve eh

I have no doubt it pulled it, I have seen em move laden artics - but legally its very much a grey area on older vehicles.

Oh yeah, I am sure I broke the law. Dead give away that I needed to start from low range 1st to climb long hills coupled with the fact I had Mansell Davies artics overtaking me going UP the hill (then again, they ran on the limiter everywhere anyway)

A series will be slow and need low range even with only 2 tons behind…so its not surprising!

My mate was towing a similar trailer behind, and he was in a 2 door RR V8 auto. He struggled to get from low to high range on the move, he had to stop and struggle with the gearbox. I managed it with my landie, but then, moving up through 8 gears from low to high was a big thing for me in that motor

Oh, and 3rd gear was missing a few teeth so I had to use overdrive from 2nd with OD to 4th without OD to get up towards high range
