Old Italians FIAT OM UNIC Lancia

Certainly cleaner than some hospitals for humans! Tell me please: is the main part of the dashboard of your 2766 the original one? In 1980-81, I used to drive an Unic P 200 (Genève cab), and its dasboard was the same as the one of the T 270 A you’re presently reconditioning. I was told the speedmeter was the same as on the Citroën Ami 6, and I never liked it. Round speed and rev-meters are so better looking!

The shape of the dashboard is UNIC. I replaced all items by instrumentation from today with sensors from today. The dashboard in the middle is made out of my mind.

ASTRA - EBG257:

Italian built ASTRA photographed in Malta, October, 2003.
ASTRA was founded in 1948 and produced heavy construction vehicles. It has been part of the Iveco Group since1985

They now build mainly dumpers and army trucks. Yours seems to have a specific Astra cab.

Exhibition in a town in the 50th: the one in the middle is a rare Unic-Saurer ZS 9.

Interesting! The ZS 9 was, I think, an Unic powered by a 130 bhp Saurer engine, but not the very last Saurer. The ultimate French Saurer was the ZS 103 (or 104) which had an Unic engine with Saurer injection.

UNIC:
the first 50 pictures of the UNIC 3466L restoration

the base was the green 2766 from Mr. Lorin (France). I lengthend the wheelsbase bei 1.30 m and also mounted a TELMA electric brake.
the 12.00x20 Michelins were replaced by single 14.00 x 20 Michelin XZL
the 270 bhp UNIC V8 was replaced by the 340 bhp UNIC V8
the manual 8-speed-gearbox was replaced by a Allison 6-Speed automatic transmission (end speed 135 km/h at 2400 rpm)
i am able to run 80 km/h at 1500 rpm which is best for fuel consumption
the cab was lengthend by 94 cm and two original UNIC doors were fitted (4 ISRY air suspended seats were mounted

I’ve just been looking through these superb restorations (again!), and have a couple of questions:

  1. If the “new” Unic was based on the green vehicle, what happened to the yellow one? Is that being restored too?
  2. Is the blue tractor unit finished yet? I would like to see some more photos of that. Thanks. Great work.

NEW from the publisher:

Book “Working Class Lancias” by Wim Oude Weernink (Mr. Lancia) and Okke Mouissie (specialist on Lancia veicoli commerciali) dealing
with the rich history of Lancia when it comes to commercial vehicles: station-wagons, vans, pick-ups and lorries. In total 120 pages
and with an attractive price of only 35,00 euros…something for under the X-mas-tree?

A good addition to “Camion Lancia” from Massimo Condolo with many new data, pictures and stories

Good idea indeed! And in English, I suppose. I guess it can be ordered online?

Yes, English language and obtainable for 35,00 euro on:

www.autodokumentatie.nl

www.historicar.be

www.gilena.it

Charges for postage will differ not much us being ‘abroad’ …

Thanks!

I couldn’t be more grateful to you! This is exactly the truck I started to drive long distances with in 1980-81, including bodywork and colour! The only difference is that mine had a bunk. Reliable, but so noisy and also cold in Winter! This one was registrated in 1968, mine in 1969.

Hey,

Yes it is him.
Here at my dad’s yard, he was travelling home from the big trip he did some years ago to northern England, with some Britsh colleagues.
