Not a lorry but still grafting daily.0

hiya,
When you turn off Bolton Road into Watery Lane the first building on the left is now a
commercial vehicle workshop, but back in the late 1960s it was the depot of Deans of
Darwen a small but very well maintained haulage firm some of the tidiest motors you
could wish to see there was two six and two four wheelers three Seddons and a Dodge
I drove the latter for a while until he ventured into articulation, only because I had the
licence to drive one, about two firms down from what was Deans is where you’ll find
this little fellow parked not there when I still lived in that part of the world, tidy isn’t it.
thanks harry, long retired.

I am in Zambia for a few days, surrounded by ERFs still at work, E & EC series mainly, I went into Botswana yesterday - old truck heaven,
The queue for the ferry is something else - I must have passed a queue of 300 trucks waiting to cross the Zambezi
The ferry only takes 1 truck at a time, and the wait is 7 to 8 days on average
I saw plenty of CF DAFs, and Volvo FM’s, but mixed in were loads of Internationals as well as a mixture of other yanks,
Will get some pictures up as soon as i get them off the camera

I went on to South Africa after this & got some pics of Super B Doubles working in the Mupalunga area

  • they aren’t oldies - but they do look good - if you want I’ll post them tomorrow

Look out for DAF CF in Hebrides Haulage livery. It’s the lorry I used to drive and I know it is now enjoying Zambian sun for a change
