Old girls still working

I did my license on one of these.

And that’s cheating. It says “potatoes” and he is carrying a digger.

You’ve got to get the potatoes out of the ground havn’t you.

It has been knocking around for a good while! do you know my dad by any chance??

cattle wagon man:
This Scania has undergone a few cosmetic changes in its lifetime.
It started-out as a 2 axled tractor unit ( I think  ) , then the chassis was stretched to become a
2 axled rigid. A drawbar trailer was pulled behind , with livestock bodies for cattle haulage.

The Scania was found to be running over the legal maximum weight , so a 3 rd. axle was added , and the Scania
was also treated to a thorough refurbishment a couple of years ago.
Sporting the reg. no. COW 888 W, this no. was earlier on both a DAF 2100 and later on a 2500 , - quite appropriate for a cattle train . . The Longhorn skull makes a bovine bullish :sunglasses: :unamused:  mascot.

Before any " Bewick Spotters" say owt about the cab colour scheme ,…the Scania was not owned by the Milnthorpe company. The original reg. no. was a D prefix, and therefore is exempt from the speed-limiter regulations.

Owned by Chris Forster , of J. & J. Forster , Wigan , to whom I thank for the details .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

In for a service at my mates garage, Regards Larry.

That might be one of Shorco’s old motors, possibly from before Barret’s owned it. I used to drive R94 JUG forShorco when I was new to the game. My first night out was in that! They used to be blue, amd they were all flatbeds like this one is. As far as I know, all the registrations ended in “JUG”. They had depots in Wednesbury, Leeds and Andover, and possibly other places too.

This yellow-cabbed Renault (Midlum ?) must be one of last to be fitted with this type of cab.
It was photographed at a vintage rally near Carnforth , 18 months ago , and nestling amongst the vintage farm tractors.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.
