Hi all,
I used to deal with a chap called Jim Pitts at Timbet, what he did not know about engins was not worth knowing, a very nice chap with a good bunch of fitters.
Built there own shunters out of old Tractor chassis cabs.
I see from Google earth that they have moved, does anyone know what happened ■■?

Was the Café still there in the Yard when you worked there Steve? Lovely breakfast Chris

No not that one mate, I mean the one across the yard, had the ordering/service hatch, 2 women ran it can’t remember their names now. Den was class mate, total professional in every way, did it his way & didn’t give a Monkeys what anyone thought, & could happily give you a good right-hander if you pushed it too far
Mmmmmm, not sure about the later Rover uniforms
always looked like they should be working at Butlins
Chris
No Chris I was still at school when the yard was sold off and missed the depot at its maximum.

Hi Toshboy, thanks for that. In the big office there was an old photo taken during the first world war of the buildings going up as they grew of the strengh of the timber needed in the trenches.
At least that is what I was told.
Yes, the canteen was great if you could manage it all
From memory ( not good anymore ) a lot of the shunters were old Mandators.
Happy days, cheers all, Harvey
