I don’t think you would be able to see Hartwell oils yard from the bypass , its down railway lane on the right ,I am sure its still there but boarded up , they have been gone from there a long time now .
I go down there and have a look and take a picture .
JAKEY:
I thought it was Hartwells , where were they then ?
Hi JAKEY you’re right about the Hartwells Oils being there, they were if I remember correctly only ever a BP franchise with a head office at Seacourt Tower, Botley Road, Hartford Motors HQ and Ford dealership, so my thinking would be that at sometime the Hartwell BP franchise and depot in Railway Lane was taken over by Dominion Oils in a transaction controlled by BP Fuel Marketing Ltd.

I definitely remember seeing something about Hartwells Oils along that bit of the by-pass. Either parked tankers, or maybe a signboard! Looking at the present Google map I would say it was somewhere around the yard which looks like an electricity sub station now. I will try to get hold of Butler Boy over the hols. & see if he can remember, he only lives just up the road.
Anyway, not to worry too much, it’s long gone now! However, I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Hi Dieseldog66 , no at the moment that’s it , but Terry says there are more , was you on HM ?
also Hartwells oils were at Littlemore wasn’t they ? College lane ? , I think the yard is still there but boarded up awaiting more houses .
Hi JAKEY, Railway Lane, right hand side before the then Littlemore Hospital, Sandford Rd.

No I wasn’t on H&M my interest in car delivery stems from my Dad, who had one of the first of 10 transporter on BRS Coventry in 1959, he transferred from the general haulage side. here’s a picture of the Sister one to his.

Ah-ha! So there really WERE little boys playing on the ceiling over the Christmas period! I’d put it down to the drink. Now we can rest easy in our beds! Robert
JAKEY:
Hi MUCKAWAY , you always go on about buying cheep 99p products ! hope your lads toys were not 99p ?
That Cat digger was free from M and Ms at Cassington by my Father In Law who was welding up some plant in there. It still works aswell. You could say it fell off the back off a (skip) lorry.

No drink over Christmas, wife went into JR with blood clot on lung on Christmas Day. Went back in on 5th and gave birth to our daughter Alana.
I can’t get around the idea of buying dolls and stuff so I might have to get her a Robinsons of Worcester lorry.
