Unipart Leyland buffalo

Great pics again Barry, love this 1 of the old Buffalo, looks like 1 of the old 500s with the stack up the back, I know I am very sentimental about the old Buffalo’ & they had their faults but those 500s were real flyers when you got them wound up  , & they sounded great if you raced them up through the range-change box cos you could really whip the gears through  !

Hi Steve, smashing bloke Sid, he liked doing the shunting at Cowley because it was like doing a training session all day, he didn’t bother opening the curtains both sides, it didn’t matter what was in the still ages/cages etc he just pulled them across the bed for the forklift to reach, built like a brick-■■■■-house was Sid but a nicer bloke you couldn’t wish to meet  . Where is Dave Beer working now, not seen him for years, I went to School with him, last I knew he was on Tesco, Didcot?

Hi Chris ,yes BEEFY is still on Tesco Didcot/Reading , and he still has the stand up at Sturgess castle , big long layby other side of Kidlington , got a big flag blowing in the wind “beefys” that’s his wife .

Barry talking of big drivers , how about Big Ron Willmott " ROCKET RON " , he always gave me a clip round the ear or a bear hug when he came in the workshops .

Hi Eddie, thanks for those, great memories  , although 2nd one a bit tongue in cheek if you’d seen some of the stuff I saw then you wouldn’t wonder at the demise of the British Motor Trade :unamused: :frowning: , but British Leyland was good to/for me, I met & worked with some great blokes (& others :unamused: ). The Buffalo I remember more clearly, been trying to remember whose it was? got a feeling it was Harold Pearce but we had such a large fleet  ! Regards Chris
