JAKEY:
bloody hell Chris , what a fine , howq many have you bought ?
Very tempted by the ex-Marley Buffalo Steve, sheās a 500 with the range-change box Not everyoneās cup of tea I know, but we all got our favourites that we are drawn too, & you know why Iād go for 1 of those! She is a bit too far gone for me, I know my limitations mate, & yes I got access to a workshop & friends with the knowledge & skills to help me, but I havenāt got the funds for that bigger job
Put these on the Foden thread, this old Mickey Mouse 8-Wheeler was buried right into the trees, I got scratched to ribbons trying to get close as possā, got ? Flour Mills written on door!
Hi Nathan , hell fire that Guy looks like a lot of work , my brother remembers the firm well . We should of kept E822FAN Dodge g08 bloody good day cabbed truck .
Does anyone remember Williams Bros Timber of Witney? Had a yard in the Crofts, mustāve been tight getting in. They had white lorries with blue writing, not sure of the make but Mercs spring to mind.
Canāt remember if theyāve been mentioned on here before but Sands and Gravels? Had gravel pits around Standlake (the banger track and Standlake business park being two early ones). They ended their lorry operating days in the '90s with ERF E series (F regs I think were the newest) but Bedfords and Dodges were once used.
My late Uncle Pete āPuggyā drove an ex Army S Type and also a J.
Standlake quarry (now 3T leisure park) closed early 2000s but their sandpit at Hatford is still running, owned by the Red Arrows (sorry Earthline after they bought Multi Agg).
Iāve just been looking at the Routeman thread, and wondered how popular was the Routeman in Oxfordshire? I donāt remember seeing that many, although Iām probably a bit young as they finished early ā80s.
Iām sure Sheehansā ran some, I remember seeing the odd ARC liveried wagon around Stanton Harcourt quarry, and Goodmansā had one running muck to North Leigh quarry (it ran for a while with no tailgate for some reason). The odd un-signwritten one used to tip at Smiths at Stanton Harcourt, and
I think I saw one or two as tar sprayers for Colas too.

Never thought about it before, but now you mention it for such a Nationally popular wagon the Scammell salesmen obviously didnāt have enough waffle to sell them to Oxford hauliers, which is a surprise when you think how many tipper firms there are/were in Oxon & this must have been Scammellā main sales in the 8-wheeler market. I would imagine the biggest operator of them round here would have been Shell/BP out of Thame?
JAKEY:
Here Chris , was you driving Dens lush Roadtrain here , Den always had the rear windows covered , I reckon he was off .
Did one of those ever pull a publicity trailer? Iām sure I remember seeing one somewhere, possibly the now defunct Witney Trade Fair?
Iāve got a couple of pics if I remember right of the old publicity trailer, I will have to rummage through my boxes later & see if I can find them! Gota go & do the ā ā ā ā ā ā -dad on the touchline bit this morning, we are at home to Chadlington so local derby, death before dishonour & all that stuff! Gota go now & file my boys studs
