Old Firms in Oxford Area

I’ve got no idea why I’ve put this pic’ on   :smiling_imp:

Our old shunter at Bibby/Budweiser at Bicester, gota admit I didn’t mind doing the shunting, 12 hr shift but you were kept busy & with the walky-talky & clip-board you virtually ran the yard so the time flew bye! & this was a fun bit of kit to play with

I had one like that Chris,a Douglas with the Leyland 600 engine…

A feeble attempt at a moody/magnificent night shot while tipping into the storage tanks at Cryo’ Worcester! (i know it’s crap, but practice will hopefully make perfect!).

Hi Steve,
No mate sorry I haven’t, Wincanton took over just after I left so I didn’t get to take pics of the fleet after that, some of the pics of Den’s Roadtrain were his & others I took when out with him or just calling in the yard at a weekend!

What about Phill Knight did you know him ? Steve.

Hi ADR, you must remember Reg Conner who was one of the shunters at Bibby’s around the late 90’s, he was an agency driver like me then he became a company driver and did the shunting, there was also a blonde(?) ■■■■■■■ dispatch who used to wear tight leggings…

Hi Nathan , LEYLAND CRUISERS 1623 , but i do like a nice blonde

I remember the name, I’m trying to put a face to it! The trouble wit Bibby was there were so many people there full-time, office/warehouse/drivers, & so many agency in & out all the time, it was a knightmare remembering all the names! I did days & nights on there, but I prefered nights, the work/runs were so easy it was staggering! Chris

Hi Chazzer. Reg Connor, another name I knew straight away but trying to put a face to! I think the blonde in the leggings must be Jackie? When I first started on there I was 1 of the 1st half dozen drivers they took on, when I went for the interview it took place in a porta-cabin in the yard cos they were still building the place, Jackie was the 1st planner there & with all the hassle of a new depot it was chaos for her, but she was a good girl & got on well with the drivers, had a few giggles with her
Were you in there when a load of the racking in the warehouse fell down? It was only a few months after it opened, I had a phone call telling me to go & load out of the old Bibby/Bud’ depot at Kingswinford & keep doing so until I was told to stop, I was going through divorce No.1 at the time so being away more suited me & I had just been given 1 of the 4 twin-steer FH12s that had come, R161 GCK was mine, although Kingswinford was crap to load out of, join the queue on the 1 way & wait your turn, 2-3-4 hrs pick a number :frowning: :imp: But then, although they had been offered the chance to re-locate, the blokes there were losing their jobs so…!
regards chris

This scruffy Merc was in for repairs at Kardoss recoverys workshop .

This is better .

I was told today, that McArdle have taken all the Euro 4 and 5 McKenna wagons and sent them to London depots; Trouble is, the McKenna men have now got the cast offs…with a promise they wont be laid off for 2 years.
