Supergas had a yard in Essex at Bradwell on Sea, on the edge of the old Wartime airstrip known as RAF Bradwell bay.
The yard is still there with big tanks & empty bottles - all overgrown, about 2 miles from my house.
I remember them runnong tankers & flats carrying bottles.
There was local guy drove a D series for them,
I recall that he took his son out with him during holidays & once parked up in the local cafe lorry park to go & get some sandwiches - His son was left in the cab & managed to release the handbrake, got scared & tried to bail out resulting in a very tragic accident.

Delivering to Oxford Botanical Gardens
Can’t quite make out where you are in that shot Nathan. Long time ago now, but as I’m remembering the gardens were just over the Magdelan bridge, on the left, going towards Carfax. There used to be a giant of a tree standing in the front, Yew, I think it was, with some of the bark worn away and us kids would go up and punch it as it was said to be quite soft! Actually I didn’t think it was that soft, but I never let on to me mates and neither did they! In fact I think it wasn’t as soft as us!

Just over Magdalen Bridge, first left is Rose Lane. It goes down to Christchurch College grounds and it’s a bit tight. I go via Longwall Street, onto the High Street then turn right as it’s an easier turn.
Did anyone hear Radio Oxford this morning re fuel protests? Tipper od John Hayes from Carterton was on there. Spoke well about it being better to turn some jobs than do them for the sake of it. Problem there is, there’s allways someone willing to do it for silly money thus cutting the rate for everyone else.
Then again, if you’re a Red Arrows pilot…
Yes I know about thos " red arrows " mad mad and bloody mad hatters , some of them are older drivers as well

RIP ALAN CLEAVER
Heard this afternoon that Alan Cleaver passed away earlier this week after a long illness.
Alans’ pride and joy; Restored from a “chassis blocking a farm gateway”. I took this pic of my wife, Sarah and son Callum with Alans’ tanker at Bloxham rally last year as Sarahs’ dad did some work welding the chassis during it’s restoration. He also does work on Cleavers’ working fleet from time to time.
The local tipper scene has lost some well known characters in recent years including Percy Prior, John Sheehan and now Alan Cleaver.

Wantage Tramway Co No5 at Oxford Lane, Grove (near where Bellingers’ garage now stands). The Tramways’ passenger service ceased the day after this photo was taken in August 1925.
Wantage Tramway Co No7 taking empty coal wagons back to Wantage Road GWR Station, July 1938. Freight (and the tramway) ceased operating in December 1945.
Parked in roughly the same place as the second picture.
Some great pictures there Nathan, something I didn’t know about, but as they say, you’re never too old to learn!
I’m sorry to here about Mr Cleaver’s passing, R.I.P. I was always hoping to get to see the restored Jet tanker, as I remember reading about it in one of the Mags a few years back, (and still have it.) I was so impressed I was inspired to attempt doing a model, so I chopped an EFE '30’s model & made a scratch tank. Like most things I do though, it’s still “on going” but it’s something like, I think!
Great model George, how’d you make the tank?
