Took this in 1989 at Steventon/Abingdon when I was deloivering fuel, anyone know anything about her?

Hello ADR,this looks like the same one,

Cheers Bubbs,

Hi Bubbs,
Spot on mate, nice one! Always interesting to have a glimpse of a wagons history. There are always a few fairground wagons parked in a field as you enter Steventon coming from Abingdon, winter parking I think, but it was 20+ years ago now but I’m sure I took this picture further along in Steventon in another yard when I was delivering fuel. Nice old motor, looking at the pic now I wish I’d found the owner & made an offer cos I went on to drive Sed Atki 401/411s/Strato’s for Air Products so have a fondness for anything with the Big A on the grille!
Cheers Chris

Hi Washy Jnr,
Remember these? Nice bits of kit actually, nice to drive.

And the old shunter! This job was a giggle, didn’t used to mind it, especially when the yard was busy, 12 hour shift used to go quickly with wagons in & out & our own stuff to load, the shunter ran the yard & said who & what went where, with the walky-talky going all the time the shift soon went!

Now this has to be one of the smartest fleets to run from Oxford way, Macburnie International from Witney, no flash/b------t, just very smart colours on the best wagons money can buy! I did a bit of casual for Gavin & Dougal here & there, good blokes. This pic taken in ■■■■■■■■■■■ bonnie Scotland, this was my mate Griff’s horse, he had come back up with a load from Spain, I took her over in Witney & went up overnight to ■■■■■■■■■■■ getting there in the early hours, I tipped in the morning then re-loaded 2 collections from Jedburgh & Workington both drops for Italy then ran her back to Witney for Griff. This wagon was a real flyer, I can’t remember any other wagons coming past me!!!

Macburnie again tipping in Avonmouth on a Saturday morning a load from Italy. Load of marble slabs up the middle of the bed upright on the stillages, load was topped up literally to the rafters with a load of office furniture all handball off (I was there bloody hours!)

This is the pony on the front of the previous post, slightly older 143, but still the donkeys-doo-dars! Just got back to the yard at Witney (late) Saturday after tipping that bloody furniture!

This Macburnies, I was loading this hire trailer to ship-out, bit of everything ended up on here, I had about 6-7 collections round London & Essex, the boxes loaded at the front were full of peanuts, about 500 boxes loaded by hand! I remember Dougal saying when I phoned him about something that day that they had come from America, were bought to England from Italy, then I was loading them to deliver to Germany? You figure it out!!!

Just tipped a load of engines from Germany at Fords Halewood.

Taken in the yard at Witney, I know I had just run back in but can’t remember where from!

Not a very exciting picture, but I like building models, so back of trailer shots are handy to get the detail right!

You can never get enough of looking at smart wagons!

Not the greatest of wagons, but it sure beat the Ford Cargo it replaced, here I am early 20s pulling a Desking Systems from Chalgrove trailer. Picture taken outside my house down Gipsy Lane, Headington, Ox’.

For some reason although its about 26 years ago I remember this was a Saturday morning & I had a load of office furniture to a new office /warehouse down by Gatwick Airport, pic was taken by my girlfriend at the time who clearly had nothing better to do that day! One for you there Jakey, spy the tatty old Midlands BRS box on the back!

Bit small, just found it in my box, blast from the past!

Coles of Banbury. Hey Jakey, brace yourself mate, I’ve found 1 cleaner than yours!

Hi Chris , yes that box trailer was once part of the oxford university press contract trailer , I did once know the fleet number but sadley memory is going a bit . Yes the Coles Scania is well clean ,

Its funny isn’t it, that as the years go by jobs you used to hate at the time like the bars/nightclubs etc, we tend to get all nostalgic about, and realise that it wasn’t that bad really & were quite a giggle at times! On the whole the good jobs far outwighed the bad!

I remember the workshops at W-ton BRS supplying a new navy blue? Guy big j for the Qxford university contract, probably pulled a trailer like that.

Hi trev , i remember the big j, when I started on Brs it was parked up in the yard , I think it had a Gardner in , it was not used as a shunter as it was thought to be to good and was sold for export to Allans of Radley road Abingdon .
The trailer was used for a good few years after.
