They were a good company to work for: good payers and good support.

These were taken when the incinerator at Powderhall was closed and the waste was being run to a landfill in Ratho.

Hugh Harper& Sons Ltd closed down in the late 70s , Andrew Hogg bought out by United Transport , Dalkeith Transport only recently closed down , Mullens Mussleburgh owned and run by Sam Anderson Newhouse .

for the foundations in 1961. From Peebles

I don’t recall Mitchell Haulage though. Maybe someone else remembers them.

Bernard Hunter was not in haulage he had a Scrap Yard and a few Mobile Cranes
In Seafield Road Leith. Then moved up to Gilmerton Edinburgh. now they are a very
big in Mobile Crane Hire. There Yard is seen in the video if your interested.

Thanks Scotnat. Bernard Hunter do a bit of heavy haulage these days. Wm Swan were not big they probably had 10 - 20 vehicles, taken over by one Mr Unwin.

PS who were those blue John Russells?

Ridleys of Allendale had a depot in Edinburgh, near Musselburgh I think.
